Today 21st January 2026 Karachi Sogetsu Study Group had a general meeting at the Japanese Consulate.

We invited a guest who proved that passion and dedication can turn dreams into reality.
Our guest is not only my friend but she is an exceptionally talented top hair stylist whose journey is as inspiring as her work.
We merged flowers and hair stylist together as both make you look beautiful inside out.

Nina Lotia spoke from her heart, she talked about her past experiences, the difficulties and barriers that she had to overcome to reach where she has reached today in life.

She spoke with honesty & with ease, she also urged that a hair stylist or anyone of the same caliber should be approachable and clients should have easy access in order to feel comfortable.

She also gave members some very vital tips of hair care which is important as you age.

Members enjoyed a question answers session with her too.

Some of the members made beautiful festive arrangements.

Later scrumptious tea was served by Rubina Jawaid and Nuzhat Jamali.

On 26th November 2025, Karachi Sogetsu Study Group had a General Meeting, the theme of the program was
"A Ray of Hope"

Every bud that blooms into a flower, every caterpillar that forms into a colourful butterfly, gives everyone the hope of growth. Similarly one can transform his/her darkness into light.
Anxiety and depression can turn into positive energy.

A well known psychologist and having a PhD degree Dr.Nausheen Shehzad, enlightened the members on the strength of mental health. She said, that a person can wade through hard times by being emotionally & mentally strong.

A well attended meeting by members and guests at Noureen Nasirs’s residence was also a platform for attracting many new members to KSSG.
Members displayed creative arrangements in a lovely autumn evening which ended up with a scrumptious tea.

A Bud is Blooming into a Flower 🌹

On 24th of September 2025, once again the Japanese Consulate is buzzing with Sogetsu Ikebana activities.

The vibrant young Madiha Taha, displaying her demonstrations of Sogetsu School of Ikebana in an innovative way.

The program started with a welcome note by the KSSG director Tarannum Lakda, as Sogetsu Ikebana is celebrating 100 years, the Karachi Sogetsu group made fridge magnets displaying the colours of Sogetsu.

Madiha's theme for her demo was "Our Five Senses".

The ambiance was filled with an aroma of fragrances, the touch of an origami flowers which were also sprayed with a fragrance to enhance our sense of smell, candies presented by Madiha for taste, the sight sense was stimulated by visuals on a projector, soft background music to hear and the lovely demonstration with information on each arrangement all complemented the theme.

Madiha’s mentor and teacher Shahina Zubairi spoke highly about her student.

The show stopper arrangement was in vibrant colours, dry branches in neon pink and flaming orange, these colours not only represent Madiha’s personality but also depict some of the colours of 100 Years of Sogetsu celebrations.

Lastly, demonstration ended with the scrumptious tea offered by our senior member Nafisa Baig and kssg member Shahnaz Abid.

Madiha Taha's demonstration today on 24th September 2025 at the Japanese Consulate took us to a hypothetical, fictitious, make-believe environment.
It was a fairytale world, dimmed lights, a film on a projector, perfumes and fragrances in the air, flowers, candies and soft music all around..it took all of us in an ethereal zone
Thank u dear Madiha for such a lovely and an amazing time that we all had today with u..

Madiha's demo was based on five (5) senses
See, smell, taste, hear and touch
She managed to translate these into such a mesmerizing experience for the members, guests and herself too.

She showed a small video of how she became a teacher and her past experiences in a slide show. Madiha Taha by the way is the youngest certified Sogetsu Teacher in Pakistan.

She used fragrances and humidifier for smell, presented sweets to all the members for taste, she had background instrumental music to hear with her demo and she made beautiful origami paper flowers to touch, feel and smell the perfume sprayed inside the flowers.

Her demo basically was an experience for the members to encounter. All her arrangements were simple yet meaningful and with a purpose.
