Day 5 of the HER Climate Fellowship began with reflections and an assignment by our climate leaders, encouraging participants to connect their learning with action.

Ms Khadija Naeem led a session on climate-driven displacement, highlighting its gendered impacts, the challenges faced by displaced communities, and gaps in recognizing climate refugees.

We were further joined by our esteemed guest Honorable Ms. Syeda Amnah Batool, who emphasized the importance of inclusive, gender-responsive climate justice and the need to strengthen women and youth-led initiatives.

As the fellowship concluded, we hope to see our fellows carrying these learnings forward and continuing their journey in advocating for gender-sensitive climate action.

Ms. Naeem is a Barrister and emerging Climate Advocate. She is actively engaged in advancing climate justice, with a focus on rights-based approaches, policy reform, and equitable climate solutions. Her work reflects a commitment to amplifying youth voices in climate spaces and pushing for inclusive, accountable governance in the face of environmental challenges.

fdi is honored to introduce Honorable Ms. Syeda Amnah Batool as a Guest Speaker for Her Climate Fellowship - Cohort V.

Honorable Ms. Amnah is member of Parliament since 2024, a policy analyst, youth advocate and a PhD in Governance and Public Policy. She is actively working on the Prime Minister Youth Programme as a Focal Person. An educationist with years of teaching public policy at NUML, she has contributed to key policy papers and impact studies on governance and policy. She works to advance evidence-based reforms and youth-centered policymaking in Pakistan.

Day 4 of the HER Climate Fellowship began with a reflection session and interactive activity, where fellows shared key learnings and ideas for their climate advocacy initiatives.

Dr. Zainab Amanullah facilitated a session on Climate Change, Women, and Finance, highlighting social and economic inequalities, gender-responsive climate finance, and the importance of including those most affected by climate disasters in decision-making.

We were also joined by Ms. Shahida Parveen, who led a session on Women at the Frontlines: Driving Climate Resilience in Crisis-Affected Communities. She shared grassroots experiences and emphasized the role of women as key agents of change in strengthening community resilience and advancing inclusive climate action.

fdi is honored to share that Ms. Shahida Perveen will be joining us as a Guest Speaker for Her Climate Fellowship - Cohort V.

Ms. Perveen is Project Coordinator for Women’s Economic Resilience and coordination in UN Women Pakistan Country Office. Ms. Perveen is a sustainable development practitioner with over 15 years of experience in climate resilience, disaster risk reduction, gender-responsive humanitarian action, program management and coordination.

She has worked in policy, programme and strategic functions focusing on resilience building and development with UN Women, UNFAO, Islamic Relief, and OXFAM, leading initiatives that center women’s leadership in food security and inclusive recovery in crisis and climate-affected contexts.

Day 3 of the HER Climate Fellowship began with reflections and fellows sharing updates on their climate advocacy campaigns.

Our trainer, Ms. Shayan Imran Gul led a session on Climate Education and Feminist Approaches, highlighting inclusive, community-driven climate action at the grassroots level. She highlighted how feminist perspectives can strengthen grassroots engagement, amplify marginalized voices, and drive sustainable environmental action.

We were also joined by Dr. Bismah Nayyer as a Guest Speaker, who shared insights on integrating SRHR into climate policy for gender-responsive solutions, emphasizing the importance of inclusive and equitable disaster response. The session encouraged fellows to think critically about inclusive climate policies and the importance of addressing health, dignity, and access in climate action.

fdi is honored to announce that Dr. Bismah Nayyer will be joining us as a Guest Speaker for the Her Climate Fellowship – Cohort V.

Dr. Nayyer is a public health practitioner, researcher, and the founder of Global Health Connect. She specializes in menstrual health, SRHR, and gender equality, particularly at the intersection of climate change and social impact. Currently an MSc Public Health candidate at King’s College London, she has collaborated with international organizations like the WHO to design community-driven advocacy campaigns and inclusive, rights-based policies.

fdi is excited to introduce Ms. Shayan Imran Gul as our Trainer for Her Climate Fellowship - Cohort V.

Ms. Shayan is a Chevening Scholar at the University of Edinburgh, pursuing a Master’s in Public Policy. She holds over three years of experience in the development sector.

Her work focuses on advancing climate justice, gender justice, and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), with particular emphasis on inclusive policy making and community centered approaches. She has led and contributed to training, research initiatives, and development projects addressing these intersecting issues.

Day 2 of the Her Climate Fellowship began with reflections from the previous day, setting the tone for deeper engagement and learning.

We were joined by Ms. Ramsha Siddiqua as the session facilitator, who guided participants in exploring women’s lived experiences of climate disasters through the lens of visual storytelling, encouraging them to reflect on narratives, representation, and voice.

We were also honored to have Mr. Jawad Sharif, filmmaker and producer, who shared valuable insights on how film and media can be used as powerful storytelling tools for effective climate advocacy. His session highlighted the role of narrative in shaping perceptions, evoking empathy, and inspiring meaningful action.

fdi is honored to announce that Mr. Jawad Sharif will be joining us as a Guest Speaker for the Her Climate Fellowship – Cohort V.

Mr. Sharif is an award-winning Pakistani filmmaker, National Geographic Explorer, and TED Fellow whose work highlights climate justice, environmental change, and resilient communities. His films, including Natari, The Color of Smog, and Indus Blues, document the impact of climate change on marginalized communities, cultural heritage, and human rights.

As the founder of Climate Kahani and Cinema for Change, Mr. Sharif uses storytelling to amplify local voices, address climate-driven challenges, and inspire social and environmental action. His session will offer fellows valuable insights into using visual storytelling as a tool for climate advocacy and community-driven change.

fdi is excited to introduce Ms. Ramsha Siddiqua as our Trainer for Her Climate Fellowship - Cohort V.

Ms. Siddiqua is an SRHR and Climate & Gender advocate, storyteller, and artivist - a multifaceted professional with a diverse portfolio spanning management, communications, and community engagement.

She is currently working as Communication and Advocacy Lead at Baithak and led multiple projects and advocacy campaigns on SRHR, GBV, and climate justice. She has facilitated community sessions and workshops and uses visual arts to portray the experiences of girls and women while advocating for gender equality.

Her notable achievements include designing a mural on women’s role in peace-building, painted at Kakri Ground, Lyari, under the Karachi Mayor’s Project; being part of ‘Between Sisters: A South Asian Storytelling Archive’ by Politics4HerAsia; and having her research abstract presented at ICFP 2025.
