University of Sindh, Department of Political Science: Attention M.Phil and Ph.D Political Science Candidates

This is to inform all shortlisted candidates that the Viva Voce/Interview for admission to the M.Phil. and Ph.D. Political Science programmes at the Department of Political Science University of Sindh, Jamshoro will be conducted as per the following schedule:

M.Phil (Candidates Monday, 27 July 2026 at 10:00 a.m.

Ph.D Monday 27 July 2026 at 12:00 p.m.

All candidates are requested to report at least 15 minutes before the scheduled time and bring original documents and BS/MPhil thesis along.

Meeting of the Board of Studies:
The meeting of the Board of Studies of the Department of Political Science, University of Sindh, Jamshoro, was held on May 11, 2026, in the office of the Chairman, Department of Political Science. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Dr. Ghulam Akbar Mahesar, Chairman, Department of Political Science. Members included Prof. Dr. Kiran Rashid, Department of Political Science, Associate Prof. Dr. Pervaiz Ali Mahesar, Department of Political Science, Associate Prof. Imran Ali Noonari, Department of Political Science, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ghulam Mustafa Gaho, Department of Political Science, Asst. Prof. Asghar Raza Burfat, Department of Political Science, Asst. The Allama I.I. Kazi Debating Society, in collaboration with the Department of Political Science at the University of Sindh, hosted a political debate on "The Future of Democracy in Pakistan". The event, which saw participation from BS IV students under the guidance of Lecturer Bakhtawar Talpur, was attended by faculty members of the department. During the debate, Miss Rida Jamil, a final-year student, presented arguments in favor of democracy, asserting it as one of the most viable political systems globally. Conversely, Mr. Abdul Razaq presented a counter-narrative, highlighting how corrupt practices within democratic systems can debilitate a nation's economy, infrastructure, culture, and society. Following the debate, Prof. Dr. G. Akbar Mahesar, Chairman of the Department of Political Science, distributed certificates among the participants at the Political Science Auditorium, University of Sindh.

M.Phil. PROGRAMS
- Master’s / 04-Year BS degree in the relevant discipline with minimum CGPA of *2.40* on a scale of 4.00 or *50%* marks in Annual System or equivalent (16-years) qualification from any HEC recognized University.
- Admission Test score of *50%* or Valid GRE / HAT General Test score of 50%.

Ph.D. PROGRAMS
- M.S / M.Phil. degree or equivalent (18-years) Education in relevant field with CGPA of *3.00* on a scale of 4.00 or *60%* marks in annual system.
- Admission Test score of *60 %* OR valid GRE / HAT General Test score of 60%.
- Student must submit one-page *statement of purpose*.
