SHIFA Welfare Association (SHIFA) — a youth-based, women-led non-profit working across Sindh & Balochistan to empower marginalized communities through humanitarian aid, social inclusion, child protection, women’s rights, and sustainable development. SHIFA Initiative and contributes to Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) focused on seven -7 SDG’s 1,2,4,5, 8, 13, 16 to create demands for its imple

mentation. SHIFA humanizes youth to take actions for proper implementation of SDGs and empower marginalized people especially, older people, Children, women and socially excluded groups like Trans , Minorities ,ethnic Minorities to collectively raise their voice against the root causes of poverty, inequality, gender based injustices and climate change.

🎉 A Positive Step for Older Persons in Sindh!

The SHIFA Welfare Association - SHIFA warmly welcomes the Government of Sindh's launch of the Senior Citizen (Azadi Card) Program for citizens aged 60 years and above.
This initiative reflects an important commitment to protecting the dignity, rights, and well-being of older persons by improving their access to social protection and essential public services.
Who can apply?
✅ 60 years of age or above
✅ Permanent resident of Sindh
✅ Valid Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC)
Key Benefits
✔️ Monthly financial assistance of PKR 10,000 (subject to the program's eligibility and approval process)
✔️ Priority services at government offices
✔️ Improved access to healthcare in public hospitals
✔️ Support for prescribed medicines
✔️ Discounts on public road transport
✔️ Discounts at selected partner hospitals, pharmacies, and other participating institutions (where applicable)
✔️ Access to additional welfare services for senior citizens

📍 Eligible older persons are encouraged to visit their nearest District or Taluka Social Welfare Office to obtain and submit the application form with the required documents.

At the SHIFA, we appreciate this important initiative by the Government of Sindh and encourage all stakeholders working on healthy ageing and social protection to support its effective implementation so that no older person is left behind.

SHIFA Welfare Association – SHIFA conducted Focus Group Discussions and Key Informant Interviews as part of the baseline study for “HeatSafe Lives: Co-designing and Testing Behavioural Adaptation Systems for Extreme Heat in Sindh and Balochistan, Pakistan. 🌡️

Through these discussions, community members, local leaders, and key stakeholders shared their lived experiences of extreme heat, coping strategies, and ideas for solutions. Their voices are at the heart of this research, helping to co‑design practical, community‑led adaptation systems that protect vulnerable populations from the growing threat of climate‑driven heatwaves.

We thank all participants for their time, honesty, and valuable insights. Together, we are building HeatSafe Lives – because every community deserves to live safely, even in the face of extreme heat. 💧🌞

Under the directives of worthy Deputy Commissioner Jacobabad Mr Shehzad Ahmed Sahi, a vibrant district-level event (Marka-e-Haq & Stability of Pakistan) was held at District Council Hall Jacobabad with active participation from civil society, students, and community members—including SHIFA Welfare Association - SHIFA

The event highlighted Pakistan’s unity, peace, and resilience, with heartfelt tributes to the sacrifices of the Pakistan Army. Students’ performances, cultural activities, and NGO stalls showcasing women’s handicrafts added great value to the program.

A rally was also held to express patriotism and solidarity, echoing slogans of Pakistan Zindabad 🇵🇰
