Women Aid Trust

Women Aid Trust Women Aid Trust (WAT) is a not for profit organization working towards the empowerment of female prisoners and the Islamic family unit.

Women Aid Trust is a non-profit non-governmental organization, working for the rehabilitation of women and juvenile prisoners. The NGO was founded in 1994 by a group of enterprising, like-minded females, their original plan being provision of ration to prisoners for the month of Ramadan. This original idea has now expanded to the formation of an establishment which, provides rehabilitation to pris

oners in the true sense of the word. Their many works include educational and skill training, a kindergarten for children of female inmates, legal aid social and psychological help with the aim to reestablish these individuals in society. The mantra of the organization is simple. To enable a woman to be independent while keeping her role in the Islamic family unit intact. To achieve this end the organizations work is limited not only to jails but also to women all over Pakistan. Their head office in Islamabad, boasts of a vocational center, with sewing and embroidery classes available for women of the area. Computer lessons are also provided. A team of dedicated lawyers and psychologists is also available on a pro-bono basis to provide any assistance for females in distress. A thrift shop designed on the idea of such shops in the west is also present in the office where donations made my people are displayed and sold on minimal prices. Funds generated are then used in various projects. Women Aid Trust is run strictly on donations made by people like you. These donations can be both in the form of money or everyday commodities which, no longer have a place in one’s household. Join us today in this Sadqa-e-Jaria to achieve everlasting reward.

Women Aid Trusts annual Istaqbal e Ramazan Dars e Quran and ChariTea exhibition took place on Thursday, 12th February.

The event was extremely well attended by our esteemed members, volunteers, donors and friends.

Our guests enjoyed a lecture welcoming the Holy month of Ramadan ul Mubarak followed by a delicious lunch and exhibition. The products on display this year included carpets, paintings, household linen, metal accessories and decoupage furniture.

Earlier in the year, an art workshop on the techniques of decoupage painting had taken place at Adiala Jail in collaboration with “Fodail Art”.

This workshop laid the basis of this year’s exhibition. The art produced by the prisoners was truly exceptional and was completely sold out within minutes.
