We started off a little over a year ago, in the summer of 2015, the five of us hand-wrapping Eid gifts for street children, bought with donations from our encouraging families. Since then, we’ve carried out several projects and drives, all made possible because of the generosity of other Pakistanis. The truth is, our families are our backbone – without them, we may never even have started. As a gr
oup of girls in a fairly male-dominated society, we can’t emphasize enough the need for more encouragement and support for females in all areas and opportunities of life. We are so grateful that we have received it throughout and we hope to one day be able to provide a platform for all those who haven’t. Paint Project 2016 is our first time reaching out to volunteers and we are overwhelmed by the response – the eagerness of people willing to help has just confirmed our belief: the youth of Pakistan is not a generation of drawing-room conversationalists. We have hopes for Pakistan that we are willing to strive for, dreams we are trying to mold into realities with our own hands. We want a compassionate, peaceful, fair Pakistan – one where no person is treated differently based on what family they were born into, what caste, sect, religion or region. With the kind of response we’ve received, we have no doubt that we’ll get there – it may take a while, but InshaAllah we will get there.
