The Centre will serve as a hub for advanced research, academic discourse, and
capacity building in the vital and rapidly evolving disciplines of Islamic Thought. This initiative aims to honour the monumental contributions of Professor Khurshid Ahmed, a globally recognized pioneer and intellectual luminary in the field of Islamic economics and finance. Professor Khurshid Ahmad — esteemed founding
chairman of the Islamic Foundation (Leicester), and the Institute of Policy Studies
(Islamabad) - a distinguished statesman, and a lifelong trustee and guiding force behind numerous pioneering intellectual and philanthropic institutions around the world. Professor Khurshid Ahmad was a towering intellectual, a visionary Islamic economist, and a principled thought leader whose influence extended across continents. His commitment to policy development and education was deeply rooted in Islamic values, and his scholarship and public service shaped generations of minds across the Muslim world and beyond. Through his founding role at the Islamic Foundation, he nurtured people and institutions that continue to inspire critical thinking and bridge-building among communities, nations, and faiths. His passing is an immense loss not only to the institutions he helped build but to the global academic, spiritual, and intellectual community. The Centre will serve as a hub for advanced research, academic discourse, and
capacity building in this vital and rapidly evolving discipline. Furthermore, to ensure the sustainability of its research activities and foster a new generation of scholars, the Centre will offer a specialized Master of Science (MS) degree in Economics with a strong emphasis on Islamic economics and a critical comparative analysis of conventional economic thought, highlighting Professor Ahmed's seminal work.
