The “Beyond Barriers” project launching ceremony took place on April 15th in Islamabad. The EU’s commitment is complemented by Sightsavers co-funding, and the initiative is implemented in collaboration with Potohar Organisation for Development Advocacy (PODA). The “Beyond Barriers” project seeks to strengthen the organisational capacity of women’s groups and build strong coalitions capable of driving long-term, structural change in the arena of disability inclusion.

Executive Director Ms. Sameena Nazir of Potohar Organization for Development Advocacy (PODA), in closing remarks, stated that this is a beginning grounded in commitment and collective action, that disability inclusion is essential for building resilient, inclusive, and sustainable societies, and urged all government stakeholders, civil society, and workers organizations to carry this momentum forward as inclusion is about ensuring that every child and every person, regardless of ability, has the opportunity to participate fully in society.

Over the next three years, the “Beyond Barriers” project will enhance the capacity of women-led organisations to support women, particularly those with disabilities, in combatting GBVH and in accessing decent and inclusive work opportunities, and the Disability-inclusive Approach to Social Accountability. The CSOs will generate evidence to influence policymaking, strengthen advocacy campaigns and improve service delivery.

Capacity Building Workshop on Digital Safety for Legal Identity Documents – Talagang District
On 12 March 2026, in commemoration of International Women’s Day (8 March), PODA Pakistan conducted a Capacity Building Workshop on Digital Safety for Legal Identity Documents at The Aspire School, Talagang District, in collaboration with NADRA and the Social Welfare Society.

The workshop was organized under the project “Promoting Civic Leadership and Participation,” supported by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED). It aimed to enhance awareness of democratic values, non-violence, and women’s rights, while strengthening digital literacy among rural communities. A total of 25 participants, including 21 young rural women and 4 male participants, actively engaged in the session.

Distinguished resource persons from NADRA, including Mr. Ahmad Aftab Jilani (Assistant Director), Ms. Rida Shokat (Deputy Assistant Director), and Ms. Bushra (NADRA Talagang), provided practical guidance on digital safety measures for protecting legal identity documents. Participants were also introduced to the NADRA PAK-ID mobile application, with demonstrations on how to securely access and manage identity records. The session contributed to building the digital capacity of young women by equipping them with essential knowledge and tools to safeguard their personal information and confidently navigate digital platforms. PODA Pakistan remains committed to promoting inclusive civic participation, strengthening digital resilience, and advancing women’s empowerment at the grassroots level.
