Empowering Women, Protecting the Environment.
An Update from ALBARI Foundation

Alhamdulillah, ALBARI Foundation continues its mission to uplift underprivileged communities. Our vocational training center for women in the suburbs of Islamabad has successfully completed another milestone. Women enrolled in our three-month diploma course in stitching and designing are now not only well-trained but have begun contributing meaningfully to their household incomes through various commercial ventures.

We’re proud to share that these skilled women have now been engaged in a new, purpose-driven initiative:
👉 Production of eco-friendly growing bags of various sizes.

These fabric-based growing bags are designed to replace harmful plastic pots and bags that pose serious environmental risks. By shifting toward sustainable alternatives, ALBARI Foundation is:
✅ Empowering women through skills and income generation
✅ Reducing plastic waste in our environment
✅ Supporting green practices like plantation and home gardening
✅ Promoting environmentally responsible agriculture

This initiative not only advances our goal of women's economic empowerment, but also aligns with our broader mission of advocating for eco-friendly living and water conservation.

Together, let’s build a future where our women are strong, our homes are green, and our environment is safe. 🌱💧

🌿 Urgent Call to Protect Margalla Hills! 🌿

During my recent hike on Trail 3 after several years, I was alarmed to see how the beautiful native flora of Margalla Hills—like Sanatha, wild figs, and native bushes—has been severely suppressed by an invasive shrub: Lantana camara, commonly known as Laltena.

Once introduced as an ornamental plant, Lantana has now spread aggressively across the hills, covering and choking the natural habitat. It grows fast, blocks sunlight, prevents native plants from regenerating, and even affects wildlife by altering food chains and nesting sites. Worse, its dry leaves are highly flammable, increasing the risk of forest fires in dry seasons.

This invasion is silently destroying the natural balance of our national treasure—Margalla Hills National Park.

👉 I urge all nature lovers, hikers, and authorities to join hands and act before it's too late.
Let’s protect what remains of our native biodiversity and restore our hills to their natural glory.

"Do not waste water, even if you are performing ablution on the banks of a flowing river."
— Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ)

This reminds us to value every drop of water, no matter how abundant it seems. Start by turning off taps while brushing your teeth, washing hands, or doing the dishes. Small actions lead to big impacts! 🌍💧

Water Your Plants Early in the Morning
Watering plants in the early morning minimizes water loss due to evaporation, allowing plants to absorb more moisture before the sun gets too hot. This simple change helps conserve water and keeps your plants healthier.

Try making this a part of your morning routine to save water!

Install Low-Flow Fixtures
Switching to low-flow faucets, showerheads, and toilets can significantly reduce water usage without sacrificing performance. These fixtures limit water flow, helping to save gallons each day. This small investment can make a big difference over time in conserving water and lowering your water bill!

This is an easy way to make a lasting impact on water conservation in your home.
