📢 Concern Over Internet and Mobile Service Shutdown in Azad Jammu & Kashmir
The Network for Human Rights and Justice Pakistan expresses serious concern regarding the suspension of internet and mobile phone services in Azad Jammu & Kashmir.
Access to communication and information is closely linked to fundamental human rights, including freedom of expression, access to information, and civic participation. Widespread communication shutdowns disrupt daily life, education, healthcare, emergency services, journalism, business activities, and humanitarian coordination.
We urge the Government of Pakistan and the Government of Azad Jammu & Kashmir to immediately restore internet and mobile services and to ensure that measures taken in response to public events remain consistent with international human rights standards.
We also call upon international human rights organizations, digital rights advocates, civil society groups, media freedom organizations, and the global community to closely monitor the situation and raise their voices in support of the protection of fundamental freedoms.
Protecting digital rights is essential to safeguarding human dignity, democratic values, and lasting peace.
