The Inland Revenue Service Officers Association (IRSOA) strongly objects to the proposal of appointing retired officers to Inland Revenue Appellate Tribunals, replacing experienced IRS officers with over 20 years of tax expertise.
We firmly believe that tribunals should consist of IRS officers as Accountant Members to maintain specialized knowledge and competence, consistent with best practices in other services.
Furthermore, IRSOA condemns the hiring of external auditors from personally preferred firms, citing potential conflicts of interest and biased decision-making. This practice undermines the integrity of the appellate process.
