🌍 What if Pakistan could see its own future and shape it?

FES Pakistan brought together key policymakers, economists, and civil society leaders for the National Strategy Lab Pakistan. Our goal? mapping geopolitical scenarios, identifying driving forces, and develop strategic options to steer Pakistan's sustainable development.

🌍The global order is undergoing a profound transformation.

Economic competition is intensifying, political consensus is fragmenting, and long-standing international arrangements are increasingly being questioned.

📉 In Geopolitical Conflict in the Wolf World, Marc Saxer examines the shifting balance of power shaping today’s world. Drawing on developments across Europe, the Middle East, East Asia, and the Global South, the book explores the decline of the liberal international order, the rise of multipolarity, and the growing challenge of governing an increasingly contested global landscape.

📚 Through a wide-ranging analysis of geopolitics, geoeconomics, democracy, technology, and global governance, Saxer argues that the future international order will not be defined by a single dominant power, but by negotiation, strategic adaptation, and new forms of cooperation between states.

🤝A timely contribution to contemporary debates on international relations, global governance, and the future of the world order.

What would a really just and sustainable city in Pakistan look like?

The "Pakistan Socio-Ecological City Transformations Network" by FES Pakistan held its very first meeting, where policymakers, practitioners, researchers, and advocates, sat together with a shared purpose of exchanging knowledge, ideas and experiences to think beyond “green cities” to fairer cities.

We talked about the people who keep our cities running but are often overlooked, especially informal and low-income workers. We discussed how urban development can include marginalised communities from the start.

We discussed three priorities for the city transformation:
🔹 Strengthening Social Value Chains
🔹 Socially Inclusive Mobility Concepts
🔹 Sustainable Social Housing

The foundation of this multi-stakeholder Pakistan Policy Group, dedicated to the ongoing dialogue and discussion around socially just urban development issues.
