To
The Honorable Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Government of Nepal
Kathmandu, Nepal
Sir/Madam,
On behalf of all Nepalese nationals currently residing in Pakistan, I, Dr. Gauri Shankar Pandit, President of the Society of Nepalese Doctors in Pakistan (SNDP), would like to draw your kind attention to the difficulties being faced by our community, particularly students, in returning to Nepal.
At present, more than 90% of Nepalese individuals in Pakistan are students, many of whom are stranded due to the continued closure of the Wagah–Attari land border. This situation has significantly restricted their ability to travel back home. The only available alternative—air travel via third countries such as Dubai—is prohibitively expensive and beyond the financial capacity of most, as they largely belong to low- to middle-income families and are dependent on their parents for financial support.
Prior to the Indo-Pak conflict in May 2025, Nepalese nationals were able to enter/exit home conveniently via the Wagah–Attari land route through India. This route remains the most practical, economical and accessible option for our community.
Considering the above, we humbly request the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to kindly take necessary diplomatic initiatives with the concerned authorities to facilitate the reopening of the Wagah–Attari border for Nepalese nationals, or to establish a special arrangement allowing their transit through this route to return home safely.
Your timely intervention in this matter would greatly alleviate the hardship faced by hundreds of Nepalese students and residents currently in Pakistan.
We remain hopeful for your kind consideration and prompt action.
Thank you for your attention and continued support.
Yours sincerely,
Dr. Gauri Shankar Pandit
President
Society of Nepalese Doctors in Pakistan (SNDP)
