📢 NOTICE: UNHCR’s Voluntary Repatriation Centres (VRCs) in Azakhel (Nowshera) and Baleli (Quetta) will remain closed from 26–29 May 2026 on account of Eid-ul-Adha.

The Scheduling Centre in Peshawar will also remain closed during this period.

All centres will reopen on Monday, 1 June 2026.

The UNHCR spokesperson discusses the current situation of Afghan refugees and asylum-seekers, as well as the challenges they are facing in Pakistan. He acknowledged the hospitality of the people and Government of Pakistan for hosting and supporting Afghan refugees for more than 45 years. He also underlined the need for continued protection and compassion for vulnerable families.

"The helpline is very important for refugees and asylum seekers because it is often the first place they turn to for help.”

Sania Orakzai, a UNHCR helpline agent, says the helpline provides a safe space for refugees to ask questions and receive clear and reliable information, especially when they are unable to visit offices in person.

“In difficult times, the helpline becomes a source of hope — helping people feel guided, supported, and connected to important services with dignity.”

On this EU Day, a big thank you 🙏to the European Union 🇪🇺, EU Civil Protection & Humanitarian Aid, and European Union in Pakistan for supporting and standing in Pakistan, as well as supporting this important service that helps UNHCR stay connected with refugees and asylum seekers.
