Breaking down barriers also means making care easier to deliver.

Expanding access to hepatitis care wasn't enough, we also needed to ensure that frontline health workers had the right tools to deliver it effectively.

We simplified hepatitis care by equipping healthcare providers with practical implementation tools, including Desk Guides, Digital EMR, Patient Education Tools, and Staff Training. Together, these resources helped translate the Test–Treat–Prevent model into consistent, high-quality care at the primary healthcare level.

Because when we break down complexity, we make quality care easier to deliver and easier to access.

For many people, the journey to hepatitis care was long, not because treatment didn't exist, but because access was too far away.

We implemented the Test–Treat–Prevent model across primary healthcare facilities in Punjab, bringing hepatitis care closer to communities through Rural Health Centres and Basic Health Units. Building on this experience, the model was replicated across Sindh, demonstrating its potential to strengthen hepatitis care at scale.

Because the first barrier we broke down wasn't the disease.

It was the distance to care.

This World Hepatitis Day, the conversation isn't only about breaking down hepatitis.

It's about breaking down the barriers that keep people from testing, treatment, and timely care.

Through its integrated Test–Treat–Prevent model, ASD has helped bring hepatitis services closer to communities, making care more accessible, more affordable, and easier to deliver through primary healthcare.

Because eliminating hepatitis begins by removing the barriers that stand in the way.

Let's Break It Down. Together.

Hepatitis doesn't wait for symptoms. Neither should we.

By the time symptoms appear, the liver may already be severely damaged. That's why ASD is working to break down the barriers to early testing, timely treatment, and prevention, bringing hepatitis care closer to communities through primary healthcare.

Evidence is most valuable when it informs practice.

ASD recently convened dissemination workshops in Jhang, Muzaffargarh, and Sargodha to share lessons from implementing gender- and equity-responsive antimicrobial stewardship practices in rural health centers across Punjab.

The workshops brought together healthcare providers and district health teams to explore how implementation evidence can strengthen equitable service delivery and antimicrobial stewardship.

With support from the International Centre for Antimicrobial Resistance Solutions (ICARS), these dissemination workshops highlighted how implementation evidence can be translated into practical, gender- and equity-responsive antimicrobial stewardship actions within Pakistan's primary healthcare system.

The Association for Social Development (ASD) recently met with Dr. Ahmed Abdullah, Head of the Department of Community Medicine and Public Health at Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University, along with his team, to explore areas of mutual interest in public health.

The discussion focused on opportunities to strengthen collaboration between academia and implementation, with an emphasis on research, evidence generation, and improving health outcomes through informed practice.

As ASD continues its public health work, collaboration with academia helps turn evidence into action.
