Millions of children remain outside the formal education system in Pakistan. Addressing this challenge, the Character Education Foundation (CEF) successfully concluded a four-day teacher training workshop at its Head Office, Islamabad, under the Umeed-e-Ilm-o-Hunar Program (UIHP) for teachers serving four Accelerated Learning Programme (ALP) Centres of UC Koral, Islamabad. The Umeed-e-Ilm-o-Hunar Program is implemented under the No Child Left Behind initiative of the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, Government of Pakistan, with National Commission for Human Development (NCHD), Pakistan Institute of Education (PIE), and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) as project partners. The initiative addresses the needs of Pakistan’s more than 26 million out-of-school children through non-formal education pathways. Aligned with Package A of the National Curriculum Council’s Non-Formal Education Framework, the training focused on Urdu, English, Numeracy, and Character-Building Skills, using practical and interactive approaches led by CEF’s Training Department. The initiative reflects CEF’s commitment to strengthening teachers and expanding meaningful learning opportunities for out-of-school children through non-formal education.
