Standing on that stage, I wasn't just sharing my journey, I was echoing the unheard voices of countless women and communities across Khyber Pakhunkhwa.

From the mountains of Dir to the fields of the merged districts, my path as a social activist has been shaped by resistance, resilience, and hope. I have walked with women denied education, farmers battling climate change, and youth yearning for a more inclusive democracy.

Every step forward has been a fight against deeply rooted norms, but also a testament to the unstoppable spirit of those demanding gender equality, social cohesion, and a sustainable future for all.

یومِ مزدور — محنت کشوں کا دن، سب کے لیے احترام کا دن

آج کا دن ان تمام مرد و خواتین محنت کشوں کو خراجِ تحسین پیش کرنے کا دن ہے، جو دن رات اپنی محنت، پسینہ، اور قربانیوں سے ہمارے معاشرے، معیشت اور ترقی کی بنیاد رکھتے ہیں۔

چاہے وہ کھیتوں میں کام کرنے والے کسان ہوں، فیکٹریوں کے مزدور، تعمیراتی کارکن، صفائی کا عملہ، یا گھروں میں کام کرنے والی خواتین—ہر ہاتھ جو محنت کرتا ہے، ہر قدم جو روزی کی تلاش میں اٹھتا ہے، وہ ہمارے قابلِ فخر محنت کش ہیں۔

خواتین محنت کشوں کو دوہری جدوجہد کا سامنا ہے — ایک طرف کم اجرت اور تحفظات کی کمی، تو دوسری طرف سماجی رویے اور صنفی امتیاز۔ ان کی محنت کو اکثر تسلیم نہیں کیا جاتا، حالانکہ وہ خاندان، معاشرہ اور معیشت کا اہم ستون ہیں۔

ہمیں ان مسائل پر بات کرنی ہے:

مساوی اجرت برائے مرد و خواتین

محنت کشوں کے لیے سماجی تحفظ

محفوظ اور باعزت کام کا ماحول

غیر رسمی شعبے میں کام کرنے والی خواتین کی قانونی شناخت

یومِ مزدور صرف چھٹی کا دن نہیں، بلکہ سوچنے، آواز اٹھانے اور تبدیلی لانے کا دن ہے۔ آئیں، ہم سب مل کر ایک ایسا معاشرہ بنائیں جہاں ہر محنت کرنے والے کو عزت، حقوق اور تحفظ حاصل ہو — خواہ وہ مرد ہو یا عورت۔

🚀 Increasing Young Women’s Political Leadership in Pakistan: A Necessity, Not an Option! 🇵🇰💪

Pakistan’s democracy can only thrive when all voices, including those of young women, are heard and represented. Yet, women remain significantly underrepresented in political leadership. It’s time to change this!

🔹 Why does it matter?

✅ Equal Representation – Women make up nearly half of Pakistan’s population but hold only a fraction of decision-making positions. A democracy that excludes women is incomplete.
✅ Stronger Policies – Women leaders advocate for inclusive policies on education, health, economic empowerment, and gender-based violence—issues that impact society as a whole.
✅ Breaking Barriers – Cultural and structural barriers have long kept women out of politics. More young women in leadership means dismantling these obstacles for future generations.
✅ Inspiring Change – When young women lead, they empower their communities, mentor future leaders, and create a ripple effect of progress.

📢 What can we do?

💡 Support initiatives that train and mentor young women in politics.
📣 Advocate for political parties to nominate more women candidates.
👩‍🎓 Invest in civic education and leadership programs for young women.
🗳️ Encourage young women to participate in elections—not just as voters but as leaders!

Pakistan’s progress depends on diverse leadership. Let’s stand together to ensure that young women are not just part of the conversation but leading the way! 🌍✨

Under the EmpowerHER Project, the Young Women Political Leaders Assembly was organized in Peshawar, where participants gave presentations based on their respective political parties and discussed community issues related to youth and women.

They actively engaged with guest speakers from political parties, asking insightful questions and fostering meaningful discussions. 💪

We were thrilled to have the incredible Dr. Shaista Jadoon (MNA, President Women Wing Hazara Division, PML-N) as a key speaker at our Young Women’s Political Leaders Assembly.

EmpowerHER in Action!

EmpowerHER participants took a significant step towards leadership by visiting and meeting representatives of the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

During this interactive session with the assembly representatives, they discussed critical issues faced by women and youth in their respective communities, focusing on education, employment, gender equality, and political participation.

This hands-on experience is equipping them with the skills and confidence needed to raise their voices, advocate for policy changes, and lead future initiatives. Together, we are shaping the next generation of strong, informed, and empowered women leaders.
This experience is enabling them to lead and advocate for change in their communities and become leading political activists in the Swat-Malakand region, inspiring more young women to join politics at the grassroots level.
