At the 79th World Health Assembly, Ayesha Raza Farooq welcomed the strong commitment and support for polio eradication from GPEI partners, Rotary International, and Member States, noting that seeing polio eradication remain high on the global health agenda further strengthens Pakistan’s resolve to end the disease.
She highlighted that the greatest strength of Pakistan’s polio programme is its female workforce, with women making up 60% of the country’s frontline workers who travel across communities to vaccinate and protect every child.
Thanks to their tireless efforts, Pakistan has made significant progress towards a polio-free future and remains committed to ensuring a safe and enabling environment for all frontline workers.
