Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy (PCP)

Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy (PCP) We work to strengthen the nonprofits and foundations that build, enrich and define our nation.

P*P is an independent not for profit government support organization, established in 2001 under Section 42 of the Companies Act, 2017 to facilitate linkages between the government, civil society and private organizations. Its mission is to promote the volume and effectiveness of philanthropy for social development in Pakistan. During the past two decades, the P*P has created a niche for itself as

the lead organization for advancing the agenda of philanthropy and improving its utilization for gainful social outcomes. Besides being a partner of development networks at local level and the Government of Pakistan, P*P is also engaged in regional and global activities with organizations and individuals of common interest to share, learn, explore and strengthen the essence and value of philanthropy. P*P is a designated Certification Agency by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to conduct performance evaluation and capacity enhancement of non-profit organizations and foundations that contribute to the development and well-being of both the nation and the communities they serve within Pakistan. In its journey of 22 years, the Centre has achieved a substantial increase in the number of certified not-for-profit organizations (NPOs) reaching a mark of about 1500, and effectively linking donors with these NPOs. P*P is also the sole organization generating knowledge and evidence-based research on various dimensions of philanthropy. The Centre’s research work has expanded the empirical map on indigenous giving routed through individuals, corporates, Pakistani diaspora and institutions or foundations that has mustered public policy support through effective advocacy and helping the givers better plan and organize social investments for civic good in Pakistan. Additionally, the P*P’s Philanthropy Support Services program has come a long way in facilitating both national and international foundations/donors to get linked with agile and trustworthy non-profit organizations working in Pakistan to achieve greater impact of their philanthropic donations.

A Century of Impact: Honouring a Legacy of Giving

As Pakistan celebrates the 100th birthday of Syed Babar Ali, we also celebrate a remarkable legacy of giving, vision, and commitment to expanding opportunities through education.

The establishment of the Syed Babar Ali Hundred for Hundred Qarz-e-Hasna Fund, a PKR 100 million financial assistance initiative supported by a distinguished group of LUMS alumni and supporters, is a powerful example of strategic philanthropy in action. This collective contribution not only honours Syed Babar Ali’s extraordinary impact on higher education but also invests in the aspirations of future generations.

At P*P, we commend this inspiring act of generosity and collaboration, which reflects the transformative role philanthropy can play in strengthening educational access and fostering social progress in Pakistan.

A fitting tribute to a visionary whose life's work continues to create opportunities and inspire giving.
