An art installation that featured a ripe banana taped to a wall at a Seoul art museum was devoured by a college student, who defended himself by saying he was “hungry” after skipping breakfast.

The iconic artwork titled “Comedian,” by Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan, was on display as part an exhibition called “WE” at the Leeum Museum of Art, which specializes in traditional Korean art and contemporary art.

In 895 CE, Fatima bint Muhammad Al-Fihriya Al-Qurashiya, also known as Fatima al-Fihri, established the world's first university in Fez, which is located in modern-day Morocco. She used her inheritance to establish The University of Al Qarawiynn, which initially started as a mosque and later grew into a place of learning. The Madrasa founded by Fatima al-Fihri is now known as the University of Al Quaraouiyine and is the oldest continuously operating educational institution globally. It was also the first institution to award degrees based on different levels of study, including Islamic studies, mathematics, grammar, and medicine.

Ismail al-Jazari was a Muslim inventor from the 12th century who designed an impressive array of inventions that served as a precursor to modern engineering, hydraulics, and robotics. He created fountains with programmable on-off switches, an automaton resembling an Indian elephant driver that struck the half-hour on the elephant's head, and servant automatons that provided guests with towels. His practical machines, such as water-drawing contraptions, were beneficial to ordinary people. Born into a period of political instability, al-Jazari was employed as an engineer by the Artuqids. He compiled a catalog of his inventions in 1206, called The Book of Knowledge of Ingenious Mechanical Devices, which contains detailed diagrams and vibrant illustrations demonstrating the workings of his creations.

The first Islamic philosopher is generally considered to be Abu Yusuf Ya'qub ibn Ishaq Al-Kindi (c. 801-866), also known as "the Philosopher of the Arabs". Al-Kindi was a prolific writer who made significant contributions to a wide range of fields, including philosophy, mathematics, and science. He was one of the first scholars to introduce Greek philosophy to the Islamic world and played a crucial role in translating and interpreting the works of Aristotle and other Greek philosophers.

Al-Kindi's philosophy was heavily influenced by Aristotelian and Neoplatonic thought, and he sought to reconcile these ideas with Islamic theology. He believed that reason and faith were complementary, and that knowledge of the natural world could lead to a deeper understanding of God. Al-Kindi also emphasized the importance of experimentation and observation in scientific inquiry, and his work helped to lay the groundwork for the scientific revolution in the Islamic world.

Other notable Islamic philosophers include Al-Farabi, Ibn Rushd (also known as Averroes), and Ibn Sina (also known as Avicenna), who made significant contributions to fields such as metaphysics, ethics, logic, and political philosophy.
