From Young Scientists to Scientific Leaders: The Role of Academies and Mentorship.

The Pakistan Young Academy (PYA), in collaboration with Shifa Tameer e Millat University (STMU), successfully organized an engaging seminar on 29 September 2026 at STMU, Islamabad.

The seminar brought together distinguished academicians, young scientists, and enterpeneur to discuss scientific leadership, mentorship, women in STEM, science-policy, and role of young academies in producing future leaders.

PYA sincerely appreciates the distinguished speakers, STMU leadership, organizers, and participants for contributing to a meaningful platform for learning, collaboration, and empowering the next generation of scientific leaders.

Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman Elected President of Pakistan Academy of Sciences for Third Time. President of Pakistan Young Academy Dr Muhammad Qasim, congratulate Prof Dr Atta to take these key responsibilities and looking forward for collaboration between PYA and PAS.

Renowned Pakistani scientist Prof. Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman has been elected President of the Pakistan Academy of Sciences (PAS) for the third time.

Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman has previously served twice as President of the Pakistan Academy of Sciences, from 2003 to 2006 and again from January 2011. He has now been elected President of the Academy for a third time, unopposed.

According to a spokesman for the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman is a prominent Pakistani organic chemist, Professor Emeritus at ICCBS, University of Karachi, and a former Federal Minister for Science and Technology.
