Executive Director of the Center for Democracy and Climate Studies, Dr. Furqan Rao, shared his views at a dialogue organised by the Institute of Regional Studies, Islamabad in collaboration with the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China 🇨🇳.
The dialogue on “China’s Path to Development and Modernization: Lessons and Opportunities for Pakistan” featured thoughtful contributions from Ambassador Jahur Saleem, President of IRS, Counsellor Wang Sheng Jie, diplomats, and subject experts. Dr. Rao also highlighted key perspectives on strengthening avenues for deeper cooperation between the two brotherly countries. We are pleased to welcome **Dr. Waqas A. Khan** as **Director Punjab at CDCS**. With advanced qualifications in Comparative Education, Quality Management, Law, and Business Administration, he brings expertise in educational reform, sustainable community development, and civic responsibility. Dr. Waqas’s most notable achievement is his transformative work in protecting and reviving the **Changa Manga Forest**, once devastated by the timber mafia. He exposed environmental crimes, mobilized national attention through journalism, and built alliances with law enforcement, civil society, and government institutions. As founder and leader of the Forest Protection Committee, he spearheaded a grassroots movement that removed thousands of illegal cattle, demolished unlawful settlements, strengthened forest law enforcement, and restored nearly 95% of the forest’s green cover one of Pakistan’s greatest environmental recovery stories. His dedication to research, public engagement, and environmental awareness makes him a powerful addition to CDCS’s mission of strengthening communities and promoting responsible development across Punjab.

The discussion brought together experts and thought leaders from around the world, including speakers from France, Slovenia, Mexico, and several other countries, to explore how we can foster meaningful dialogue and resilience in an era increasingly shaped by misinformation and post-truth narratives.

چین کے سفارتخانے کے ناظم الامور شی یوان چیانگ نے کہا ہے کہ میڈیا کا کردار پاک چین دوطرفہ تعلقات اور چین پاکستان اقتصادی راہداری کے منصوبوں کے فروغ میں نہایت اہم ہے۔ان خیالات کااظہار انہوں نے بلوچستان اور خیبر پختونخوا سے تعلق رکھنے والے صحافیوں اور سوشل میڈیا انفلوئنسرز کے لیے منعقدہ تربیتی ورکشاپ بعنوان “سی پیک رپورٹنگ اور میڈیا ایتھکس کے حوالے سے صحافیوں اور سوشل میڈیا انفلوئنسرز کی صلاحیتوں میں اضافہ” سے خطاب کرتے ہوئےکیا۔ ورکشاپ اسلام آباد میں سینٹر فار ڈیموکریسی اینڈ کلائمیٹ اسٹڈیز نے چینی سفارتخانے کے اشتراک سے منعقد کی۔چینی سفارتخانے کے ناظم الامور نے مزید کہا کہ چین اور پاکستان سدابہاراسٹریٹجک شراکت دار اور آہنی دوست ہیں۔پاکستان میں چینی سفارتخانے کے قونصلر وانگ شینگ جئے نے شرکاء کا خیر مقدم کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ چین اور پاکستان کے درمیان آہنی دوستی کو اجاگر کرنے اور دونوں ممالک کے درمیان ثقافتی تبادلوں کو گہرا کرنے میں میڈیا ایک پل کا کردار ادا کرتا ہے ۔سی ڈی سی ایس کے ایگزیکٹو ڈائریکٹر ڈاکٹر فرقان راؤ نے کہا کہ پاکستان اور چین سدا بہار اسٹریٹجک پارٹنرز ہیں ۔اختتامی تقریب کے موقع پر چیف گیسٹ پاکستان۔چین انسٹیٹیوٹ کے ایگزیکٹو ڈائریکٹر مصطفیٰ حیدر سید نے اس اقدام کو سراہا اور دونوں ممالک کے درمیان عوامی سطح پر تعلقات کی اہمیت کو اجاگر کیا۔
