🚨Power-Sharing Agreement for Control of Pakistan Football Federation Confirmed
Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) Vice President Hafiz Zakaullah has confirmed the existence of a power-sharing formula within the federation.
Speaking to Geo News by telephone, Hafiz Zakaullah said that certain matters had been agreed upon at the time of the PFF elections for the betterment of Pakistan football. He said that if the agreement has now been leaked and made public, then it should also be implemented.
Regarding the power-sharing arrangement, Zakaullah said:
“Certain matters were agreed upon for the betterment of Pakistan football. I do not know who leaked the agreement or why, but it is certainly true that all of this had been agreed upon.”
He further stated that now that the agreement has come to light, it should be fully implemented. He said that they want the betterment of Pakistan football and do not want to engage in any “misadventure,” therefore the agreement should be honoured and implemented.
According to the report, the agreement was reached when Mohsin Gilani became PFF President, under which Hafiz Zakaullah was supposed to take over the presidency after one year.
Under the power-sharing formula, after one year Mohsin Gilani was supposed to announce his unavailability, following which Hafiz Zakaullah would assume the responsibilities. The agreement reportedly contains additional clauses and carries signatures as well.
However, after the agreement surfaced publicly, the PFF strongly denied its authenticity and stated that action could be taken against those circulating what it described as a false agreement.
