Qaiser Nawab – Comment on the 17th ECO Summit in Khankendi
“It is truly a historic moment to see the 17th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization being held in Khankendi, in the beautiful and resilient region of Karabakh. This is not just a regional summit—it is a symbol of peace, reconstruction, and renewed regional cooperation after decades of challenges. Azerbaijan’s decision to host this summit in Karabakh shows the world how hope and development can rise from conflict, and how ECO countries stand united for a shared future.
On the political front, this summit marks a turning point. It demonstrates that ECO member states are committed to building trust and dialogue in the region—focusing on shared values, sovereignty, and stability. It also signals that regional peace is essential for unlocking economic prosperity.
Economically, the summit opens up new possibilities for trade, transit, energy, and investment. The focus on connectivity—whether through transport corridors, digital cooperation, or energy projects—reflects the region’s ambition to become a bridge between East and West, North and South. With major infrastructure already developing under Azerbaijan’s leadership, Karabakh can emerge as a new hub of regional trade and green growth.
We in Pakistan welcome this vision wholeheartedly. Our Prime Minister’s presence at the summit is a strong message of our deep ties with Azerbaijan and our commitment to regional cooperation. Pakistan is ready to work closely with ECO partners in sectors like transport, energy, food security, and youth-led innovation.
This summit, in Khankendi, is not just a diplomatic event—it is a message to the world that the ECO region is forward-looking, united, and determined to shape its own future through cooperation, peace, and prosperity.
Thank you.”
