Day 2 at Asia-Pacific Shelter & Settlements Forum 2026 delivered a clear mandate: stop building houses in isolation. Under “Shelter as an Integrated System: Integrating WASH, Energy, and Livelihoods (The Wider Impact),” speakers called for financing that links housing to water, sanitation, decentralised energy and livelihoods. Heat must enter national planning. Coastal and riverine communities need ecosystem buffers alongside engineered defences.

Climate policy must prioritise those most at risk. Inclusion shapes design, durability and stability.

The APSSF 2026 invitation card is more than a design, it is a story crafted with care, culture, and connection. Inspired by the diverse architectural traditions of the Asia-Pacific, the artwork draws from vernacular, climate-responsive settlement patterns while honoring Sindh’s own rich visual language and ethos of hospitality.

Unlike conventional housing projects where the focus ends at construction, this initiative was driven by a larger purpose — to ensure that homes are built to withstand the climate realities of tomorrow.
Every structure carries resilience at its core, following strengthened construction standards that protect families from future disasters rather than simply providing shelter for today.
In just three years, SPHF has turned this vision into real, on-ground impact with beneficiaries themselves constructing safer, stronger, climate-resilient homes that stand as long-term security for their families.
