Improving access to essential health services remains a key priority for Mercy Corps Pakistan.

Through our Free TB & HIV Screening Camp, we engaged communities by providing free testing, raising awareness, and encouraging early diagnosis. Such initiatives not only support timely treatment but also help reduce stigma associated with TB and HIV.

We believe that informed communities are healthier communities. By bringing services closer to people, we continue to strengthen public health responses and promote well-being for all.

On World Hand Hygiene Day, weโ€™re sharing moments from Renala Khurd, Okara, where school students led a handwashing awareness activity for their community.

Through a simple demonstration, they highlighted how proper hand hygiene helps prevent disease and protect families. Small actions like washing hands at the right time can make a big difference.

Mercy Corps Pakistan remains committed to working with local communities to strengthen awareness and promote sustainable health and hygiene practices at the grassroots level.

Mercy Corps Pakistan, led by Arif Jabbar Khan and Dr-Adeel Tahir, recently engaged in a constructive meeting with the Provincial TB Control Program, Punjab team under the leadership of Dr. Talha Sherwani. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Qasim Mehmood, Dr. Amber Elahi, Dr. Bilal Afgahani and Shehzada Rashid Mehmood. The session brought together key stakeholders to reflect on progress and strengthen coordination moving forward.

The discussion focused on reviewing achievements under the GC7 grant while also taking a realistic look at implementation challenges and operational bottlenecks. Both teams agreed on a clear and actionable way forward to improve efficiency and program delivery.

An important area of discussion was the ICE SCREEN project, where PTP Punjab expressed strong interest and proposed a facility-based testing model utilizing NPOC platforms. This approach will be further refined through joint efforts.

A key outcome of the meeting was the mutual agreement to institutionalize quarterly coordination meetings. This step will help ensure sustained alignment, better program performance, and stronger impact in TB control efforts across Punjab.

We look forward to building on this partnership to drive meaningful progress in public health.
