KnK(Kokkyo naki Kodomotachi) - INGO working in 🇵🇰 Forty schools were built and transferred to the Ministry of Education of Pakistan.

Knk Japan is active in Pakistan since 2005 , working for the earthquake affected people in state of AJK and Khyber Pakhtoonkhuwa(KPK) province of Pakistan. KnK Japan has established schools and dormitrories and provided children and youth with professional training, parents and teachers have been provided with guidance in five villages in the affected district of Mansehra(KPK). In january 2010 KnK

started a huge project of rebuilding the damaged and destroyed schools by earthquake in Kashmir and Mansehra District.

The Capacity Developmnt for Climate Resilient Infrastructure Seminar on Multi-Hazard Structural Health Assessment at Sarhad University of Science and Information Technology, Peshawar, strengthened students, Graduate and Faculty's understanding of Rapid Visual Screening and Disaster Risk Reduction for safer and more climate-resilient infrastructure.

Recognized as a Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) CPD activity carrying 1.0 CPD point, the seminar brought together engineering professionals to explore how Rapid Visual Screening can support the early identification of visible structural vulnerabilities, improve understanding of risks posed by earthquakes, floods, heavy rainfall and other hazards, and help prioritize buildings requiring detailed technical assessment.

This approach encourages a shift from responding after infrastructure failure to identifying risks early and taking preventive action before disasters occur.
Because safer infrastructure begins with understanding risk before it becomes a disaster.

A school embraced by nature.

Government Girls Middle School Baki sits in the forested hills of District Mansehra, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where reaching a classroom has never been simple. For the girls of this community, this building is more than a school. It is proof that education belongs here too.

KnK Japan Pakistan has worked across Pakistan since 2005 to strengthen safe, durable learning spaces for children in remote communities. Infrastructure designed to endure its environment means learning that continues in every season, through harsh winters, heavy rains, and a changing climate.

Because a girl's education should be as resilient as the mountains around her.

𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝗙𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱: 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶-𝗛𝗮𝘇𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗦𝗛𝗔 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗮𝗸𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻 🇵🇰

KnK Japan, under its CD-CRI project, held a Technical Workshop on Multi-Hazard Structural Health Assessment (SHA) with PEC-registered engineers at the PEC Regional Office, Peshawar.

Participants were oriented on the SHA Tool, a standardized framework to screen public schools, health facilities, and buildings against six hazards, and shared valuable feedback now being incorporated into the tool.

Our technical partners at Dr. Qaisar Ali Associates engaged participants on the Rapid Visual Screening (RVS) process and led hands-on working group sessions on the assessment forms.

📢 Call for PEC-Registered Civil & Structural Engineers!

KnK Japan (Pakistan), under the CD-CRI project, invites PEC-registered engineers to a one-day Technical Orientation on the national Multi-Hazard Structural Health Assessment (SHA) methodology, covering seismic, flood, wind, landslide/GLOF, climate deterioration, and fire/life-safety hazards.

The orientation will be conducted by Dr. Qaisar Ali Associates and team, KnK Japan's technical Partner for the SHA framework.

Participants will receive hands-on training in rapid visual screening (aligned with FEMA P-154, ASCE & BCP-2021), practical use of the SHA forms, and will later join field assessments of public schools and health facilities across KP & Punjab.

✅ 1.0 PEC CPD point will be awarded
✅ Certificate of participation
✅ Direct contribution to a national framework for resilient public infrastructure
👩‍🔧 Female engineers are strongly encouraged to apply

📍 Field assessment districts: Peshawar, Charsadda, Lahore, Muzaffargarh & Jhang

Ms. Shiho Anzai, Country Representative of AAR Japan［難民を助ける会］ Pakistan, along with her team, visited KnK Japan office today.

The conversation revolved around KnK Japan's interventions in Pakistan — particularly our work on safer school infrastructure and climate-resilient initiatives. A meaningful exchange of insights, learnings, and collaboration.

AAR Japan and KnK Japan-Pakistan will work to make Pakistan resilient.
