Climate change significantly impacts Balochistan, exacerbating poverty and leading to increased displacement and gender-based violence.

The region is experiencing severe water shortages, extreme temperatures, and erratic weather patterns, which undermine agricultural productivity and reduce access to essential resources. This environmental degradation leads to heightened poverty as families lose their livelihoods and struggle to meet basic needs.

As resources become scarcer, displacement rises, with many Balochistan residents forced to migrate in search of better living conditions. This displacement disrupts communities and strains urban infrastructure.

Additionally, the adverse conditions exacerbate gender-based violence. Women, already vulnerable in conservative societies, face heightened risks due to economic stress and displacement. They encounter increased domestic violence or exploitation as families cope with deteriorating conditions. Thus, climate change not only intensifies poverty but also aggravates gender inequalities and social instability in Balochistan.

The escalating climate crisis is exacerbating poverty and displacement, leading to a troubling rise in forced child marriages, an age-old social issue in Pakistan. Frequent and severe natural disasters, such as floods and droughts, have devastated communities, displacing countless families and destroying livelihoods.

As economic pressures intensify, families struggling to survive choose to marry their daughters at a young age, particularly in patriarchal societies. These early marriages are seen as a way to reduce the financial burden, though it often results in discontinued education of women and prolonged cycles of poverty for the young girls.

The intersection of climate-induced economic hardship and societal pressures thus perpetuates a cycle where child marriages become a desperate measure to cope with the relentless challenges posed by environmental degradation. Addressing this issue requires urgent, multifaceted approaches to climate resilience, economic support, and gender equality.
