Aurat Foundation celebrated its 40th Anniversary in Manchester, UK, on 9 October 2026, at Community Hub Hall. Senior Labour Party Parliamentarian Afzal Khan chaired the event.

Aurat Foundation conferred the “Pioneer of Women Political Emancipation Award” upon Emmeline Pankhurst (posthumously) in recognition of her fearless and consistent struggle for women’s suffrage in Great Britain in the early 20th century. The movement achieved a historic milestone in 1918, when women were granted limited voting rights, culminating in 1928 when women gained equal voting rights with men.

The Emmeline Pankhurst Award was received by Nadia Ali, Chair of GM4Women, a foundation established in Manchester in 2018 by Emmeline Pankhurst’s great-granddaughter, Helen Pankhurst. The award was presented to Nadia Ali by MP Afzal Khan and Naeem Mirza from Aurat Foundation.

Meeting with the Newly Elected President & Vice President of ICCI

The Aurat Foundation team held a meeting with Mr. Zakria, newly elected President of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), and Mr. Waqas Khan, Vice President of ICCI.

The meeting focused on exploring opportunities for collaboration and strengthening partnerships to promote women’s economic empowerment, entrepreneurship, and greater participation in the business community.

The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views and discuss potential initiatives that can contribute to creating more inclusive economic opportunities for women.
