🌿 A Great Start to the YES Climate Fellowship 1.0!

Today, we successfully conducted the first session of the YES Climate Fellowship 1.0, marking the beginning of an exciting learning journey for our inaugural cohort. Under Module 01: IGNITE, fellows explored the theme "Climate Reality in Sindh & Pakistan: Why Youth Climate Leadership Matters."

We were honored to host Mustafa Usmani, Business Growth Specialist at Coral, as our first guest speaker. With over a decade of experience in enterprise technology, business development, and sustainability-driven innovation, Mustafa shared valuable insights on Pakistan's climate realities, the growing importance of youth leadership, and how innovation, AI, and ESG can contribute to building a more sustainable future.

A heartfelt thank you to Mustafa Usmani for inspiring our fellows and setting the tone for an impactful fellowship experience.

Pakistan ranks 135th out of 146 countries on the Global Gender Gap Index, and education is a big part of why.

Behind every statistic is a girl who wanted to learn, and a system that made it harder than it should have been.

This is the first post in our Women in Education series, because change starts with knowing what we're up against.

Save this. Share it. Talk about it.

When floods erase farmlands, wildfires consume forests, and rising seas swallow entire villages, people don't migrate. They flee.

In his latest piece, Shafiullah Dahri unpacks the reality of climate migration: what drives it, why it's accelerating, and why calling it "voluntary movement" fundamentally misses the point.

Climate migration is not a lifestyle decision, it is a matter of survival, forced upon millions by environmental conditions they did nothing to create.

As the climate crisis deepens, this is no longer a future threat. It is a present one, unfolding across the Global South and hitting vulnerable communities the hardest.

Qambar Shahdadkot was one of the district's hardest hit by the 2022 floods, but its story did not end when the waters receded.

Years later, damaged irrigation systems, lost livelihoods, and struggling agricultural communities continue to shape everyday life. What happened here shows that climate disasters leave impacts that last far beyond the headlines.

Through HECSA's Unheard Sindh series, we are bringing attention to the communities living with the long-term consequences of climate change, because recovery deserves as much attention as disaster.
