🔥Sindh Heatwave Alert 2026 🌡️

The latest situation report by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority highlights the growing impact of extreme heat across Sindh. Over 1,100 heatwave stabilization camps have been established, while hundreds of heatstroke cases have already been treated across multiple districts.

This is a critical reminder that climate change is no longer a future threat — it is a present reality affecting lives, health, livelihoods, and vulnerable communities across Pakistan.

Key concerns:

• Rising temperatures and prolonged heatwaves
• Increasing pressure on health systems
• Risks to outdoor workers, elderly citizens, children, and livestock
• Need for stronger climate adaptation and public awareness

Sindh Climate Action Network urges citizens, CSOs, and local authorities to:

✅ Stay hydrated
✅ Avoid unnecessary outdoor exposure during peak hours
✅ Check on vulnerable community members

We are pleased to share that our Coordinator, Mr. Shewa Ram, will be serving as a panelist at the 2nd IEEE Karachi Humanitarian Technology Conference & 4th ICBM 2026, taking place today, 16th May 2026 at 2:00 PM at Mohammad Ali Jinnah University, Karachi.

He will be speaking on the panel titled “The Collaboration Pitch: Aligning Industry, Government, Academia & Civil Society for AI-Driven Humanitarian Solutions”, alongside distinguished experts from academia, industry, and civil society.

سندھ میں فضائی آلودگی کی نگرانی مضبوط بنانے پر غور

گول میز اجلاس میں ڈیٹا پر مبنی اور مشترکہ حکمتِ عملی پر زور

کراچی، 5 مئی 2026: سندھ میں بگڑتی ہوئی فضائی صورتحال کے پیش نظر آج کراچی کے مقامی ہوٹل میں ایک اعلیٰ سطحی گول میز اجلاس منعقد ہوا، جس کا اہتمام سندھ انوائرمنٹل پروٹیکشن ایجنسی (سیپا) نے کیا۔ اجلاس میں سرکاری افسران، ماہرینِ ماحولیات، انجینئرز، ماہرینِ تعلیم، کنسلٹنٹس اور سول سوسائٹی کے نمائندگان نے شرکت کی اور فضائی آلودگی کی وجوہات، اثرات اور ممکنہ حل پر تفصیلی تبادلہ خیال کیا۔

شرکاء نے اس بات پر اتفاق کیا کہ سندھ میں فضائی آلودگی سے نمٹنے کے لیے فوری اور مربوط اقدامات ناگزیر ہیں، جن کی بنیاد مستند ڈیٹا اور تمام متعلقہ فریقین کی شمولیت پر ہونی چاہیے۔ اس موقع پر اس بات پر زور دیا گیا کہ غیر سائنسی اندازوں کے بجائے شواہد پر مبنی پالیسی سازی کو فروغ دیا جائے اور ادارہ جاتی تعاون کو یقینی بنایا جائے۔
اجلاس میں نگرانی کے نظام کو جدید بنانے، قوانین پر مؤثر عملدرآمد، پسماندہ طبقات کی شمولیت، پائیدار ٹرانسپورٹ کے فروغ اور عوامی آگاہی بڑھانے جیسے اہم نکات پر اتفاق سامنے آیا۔ شرکاء نے کہا کہ مکالمے کو عملی اقدامات میں بدلنا وقت کی اہم ضرورت ہے۔

صوبائی سیکریٹری ماحولیات، موسمیاتی تبدیلی و ساحلی ترقی، زبیر احمد چنہ نے کہا کہ فضائی آلودگی کسی ایک شعبے کا مسئلہ نہیں بلکہ اس کے مختلف ذرائع ہیں جن میں سیمنٹ، ریفائنری اور ٹرانسپورٹ جیسے شعبے شامل ہیں۔ ان کے مطابق صوبے میں تقریباً 30 فیصد آلودگی ٹرانسپورٹ کے شعبے سے پیدا ہوتی ہے۔ انہوں نے اخراج کے ذرائع کی درست نشاندہی اور ڈیٹا کی بنیاد پر حکمتِ عملی ترتیب دینے کی ضرورت پر زور دیا۔

ڈائریکٹر جنرل سیپا، وقار حسین پھلپوٹو نے صنعتی شعبے میں کمزور عملدرآمد کو ایک بڑا چیلنج قرار دیتے ہوئے کہا کہ صرف قوانین کافی نہیں بلکہ آگاہی اور ذمہ داری کے کلچر کو فروغ دینا بھی ضروری ہے۔ انہوں نے ادارہ جاتی استعداد بڑھانے، صنعتوں کی نگرانی کے مؤثر نظام، ضلعی سطح پر اخراج میں کمی کے منصوبے اور مرکزی ڈیٹا بیس کے قیام کو ترجیحات میں شامل قرار دیا۔

انہوں نے بتایا کہ گاڑیوں کے اخراج کی نگرانی کے لیے خصوصی مراکز کے قیام اور پائیدار ٹرانسپورٹ کے فروغ پر بھی کام جاری ہے، جبکہ کاروباری رجسٹریشن کے عمل کو ماحولیاتی تقاضوں سے منسلک کیا جا رہا ہے تاکہ ذمہ داری کو یقینی بنایا جا سکے۔

اجلاس میں ماہرین نے شہری شجرکاری، جدید مانیٹرنگ نظام، متبادل ایندھن، اور نجی شعبے کی شمولیت جیسے اقدامات کی سفارش کی۔ اس کے علاوہ اندرونی فضائی آلودگی، ٹھوس کچرے کو جلانے، اور زرعی باقیات کے اثرات پر بھی توجہ دلائی گئی۔
سیپا کی جانب سے پیش کیے گئے اعداد و شمار کے مطابق صوبے میں فضائی آلودگی کے متعدد مراکز کی نشاندہی ہو چکی ہے جبکہ حالیہ عرصے میں آلودگی کی سطح میں معمولی کمی بھی دیکھنے میں آئی ہے۔ ادارے نے مزید مانیٹرنگ نظام نصب کرنے کا عندیہ دیا ہے۔

اجلاس کے اختتام پر سندھ انوائرمنٹل ٹریبونل کے چیئرمین حسن فیروز نے زور دیا کہ اس طرح کے مکالمے کو مؤثر پالیسی اور عملی اقدامات میں بدلنا ضروری ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ عوامی آگاہی کے بغیر اس مسئلے پر قابو پانا ممکن نہیں، لہٰذا حکومت، صنعت اور معاشرے کے تمام طبقات کو مل کر کام کرنا ہوگا۔
