Our Story
The GBV Prevention Response /Referral Network aims to consider all types of gender-based violence in its coordination, planning and advocacy activities. GBV in Interventions in Humanitarian settings which defines GBV as: an umbrella term for any harmful act that is perpetrated against a person’s will and that is based on socially ascribed (gender) differences between males and females. Network will address GBV in Pakistan specially Sindh context as domestic violence, intimate partner violence, sexual exploitation, harmful traditional practices such as early and forced marriages, watta satta, wani /sawara ,Marriage with Holy Quran. In our society, customs and traditions are very much discriminative against women. The birth of girl brings a sadness and bad luck in the family. In fact from the very childhood females are raised and nurtured differently from males. They have to obey their fathers, brothers, and husbands. They don’t have the right of any decision even no choices for getting married or doing some job. Their mobility in the area is strictly limited. Domestic violence against women in the project area seems to be at peak. The women and girls get physically, economically and psychologically punished by their males .
