Honoring a Legacy of Dedication and Service – Mr. Ullah Baig
Today, we pay heartfelt tribute to one of the true gem of the Valley, “Mr. Abdullah Baig”, on the occasion of his well-earned retirement after 40 Years of selfless service in the field of education and community development.
From humble beginnings at “DJ Primary School Resh*t, Chipurson”, and “Govt. High School Gulmit”, Mr. Baig's passion for teaching began early—taking his first steps into the classroom just after matriculation. Despite starting a B.A. at Govt. Degree College Gilgit in 1986, he answered the urgent call of duty and returned to teach in his village at the request of Ustad Ghulam Uddin, filling a critical gap in local education.
Over the years, he pursued his “B.A. and B.Ed privately”, and further strengthened his academic credentials with an “M.Ed from AKU-IED (2006–2008)”, His career milestones include serving as a “Teacher Trainer for LEAP (1997–2000)” in collaboration with European VSOs, and later as a “Teacher Educator for the EDIP project (2011–2014)” under Australian Aid.
His leadership shaped institutions such as “DJ High School Resh*t”, “DJ High School ZoodKhun-Sh*tmerg”, and the “Aga Khan Local Higher Secondary School Sost”, Despite being offered multiple senior administrative positions, including RSDU Head and Teacher Educator roles, he chose to stay connected with students—his true calling.
Beyond the classroom, Mr. Baig’s contributions to community life are equally remarkable:

-Chairman, ITREB Chipurson (6 years)
-Mukhi, Shehr-e-Subz JK (9 years)
-Member, Local Council, Chipurson
A dynamic sportsman in his own right, Mr. Baig was known as one of the finest footballers of his time and actively participated in cricket, volleyball, and Shooting Ball—advocating for the importance of physical fitness and youth engagement.
Mr. Abdullah Baig’s lifelong commitment to education, leadership, and community service leaves an indelible mark on Chipurson Valley. We salute his unwavering dedication, humility, and the countless lives he has shaped.
