OEC Junior Wing Youth Camp 2.0 was recently held at Oasis Hotel Jutial Gilgit. ⚡️
A one-day camp with high school students (Grade 9 to 2nd year) where we explored mental health & well-being, child protection, and discovering ourselves — through fun activities, games, and interactive sessions.
It was a fun-filled day.

Feeling overwhelmed with gratitude as we share a glimpse into our recent Reading Circle at Academy of Excellence, Danyore, delivered in collaboration with our key facilitator, Zainab Shahid from University College London (UCL).

Walking into a classroom of 40 Ninth-graders on Day 1, we weren’t quite sure how effective this would be. We knew we had a long way to go.

Our first challenge was simply getting students to talk, to feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and, more importantly, to realise that their opinions mattered.

In a society where silence and uniformity can often be rewarded, encouraging young people to express their individuality and question ideas openly is not always easy. But over the course of the Reading Circle, we saw students slowly come out of their shells, engage in discussions, and find the confidence to speak.

We’re proud of how far they came.

As the Vice Principal beautifully put it:

“I have known Shifa for six years, and to see her speak up in a room full of people, I can clearly tell the positive impact the Reading Circle has had on our students.”

For us, that is what the Reading Circle was really about, not just reading a book, but creating a space where young people felt heard.

And with this, our wonderful Reading Circle programme and our time with the amazing volunteer Zainab Shahid comes to an end. 🫶

Going Global: Helping Students Explore Opportunities Beyond Borders

OEC Junior Wing recently conducted “Going Global” at Academy of Excellence, Zulfiqarabad Campus for their 2nd-year students.

The session was designed to help students better understand the process of applying to universities abroad and explore the opportunities available to them beyond Pakistan.

Students explored:

🇬🇧 UCAS and the UK university application process
🇺🇸 Common App and applying to US universities
🔄 UK Clearing and alternative routes when plans change
💰 Scholarships, financial aid and fee-waiver opportunities
🌎 US universities’ offshore campuses and alternative pathways
💬 An open Q&A and discussion around the realities of studying abroad

At OEC, we believe that access to the right information can open doors. Through initiatives like Going Global, we hope to help students in Gilgit-Baltistan make informed decisions and approach international higher education with greater clarity and confidence.
The world is full of possibilities! Let’s help our students discover them.

Nuqta-e-Nazar was a youth dialogue and reflection workshop organised by the OEC Junior Wing on 6th September 2026, bringing participants together to explore patriarchy, feminism, and gender inequality through discussion, critical reflection, and the sharing of diverse perspectives.

The session encouraged participants to question familiar ideas, engage respectfully with different viewpoints, and consider how social structures influence our everyday experiences.
Because meaningful dialogue begins when we are willing to look beyond our own nuqta-e-nazar — our point of view.
A big thank you to our amazing facilitator .zainabshahid._ for creating such a safe space for our participants. Thanks SDA Tech Hub for always supporting OEC Junior Wing’s operations. And to our Junior Wing, hats off.
