The Director General of the Gilgit-Baltistan Disaster Management Authority (GB-DMA), Mr. Zakir Hussain, paid an official visit to the Provincial Headquarters (PHQ) of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) Gilgit-Baltistan on April 30, 2026. Upon his arrival, the Secretary of the PRCS Gilgit-Baltistan, Mr. Imran Khan Rana, warmly welcomed the distinguished guest. During the visit, the Secretary provided a comprehensive briefing on the history, mandate, and core operational areas of PRCS, with a particular focus on its humanitarian interventions during the 2025 flood emergency across Gilgit-Baltistan. The DG GBDMA commended the Pakistan Red Crescent Society for its continued commitment and effective response as a key humanitarian partner, working in close coordination with GB-DMA and other stakeholders. He specifically appreciated PRCS interventions in Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) and the deployment of Mobile Health Units in disaster-affected communities, recognizing these initiatives as flagship programs contributing significantly to relief and recovery efforts in the region. During the discussion, Mr. Zakir Hussain emphasized the importance of strengthened coordination and information sharing among partner organizations. He suggested that PRCS share its operational data with GBDMA to support the development of a comprehensive database encompassing all stakeholders’ interventions in disaster management. He further highlighted that effective resource mapping of all partners is essential to avoid duplication of efforts and ensure a more efficient and targeted humanitarian response. The visit concluded with a vote of thanks from the DG GBDMA, who expressed his appreciation to the Secretary PRCS and his team for their dedication and valuable contributions to disaster risk management and humanitarian services in Gilgit-Baltistan

Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) is launching First Aid Program for one year in Provincial Headquarters Gilgit-Baltistan with the financial support of International committee of Red Cross (ICRC). Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) has a long-lasting partnership in humanitarian services with partner organizations.
The First Aid program for one year aims at ensuring impact by strengthening PRCS’ Emergency Response network to improve community preparedness and emergency response capacity across the region. It also aims to support financial sustainability as it incorporates commercial First Aid and Emergency Health Services in Gilgit-Baltistan. These services will be offered to government departments, private organisations, educational institutions, tourism operators, and community groups on a cost-recovery basis. Revenue generated will support the continuation of humanitarian health activities and support in institutional self-reliance.
To smooth and effective implementation on the First Aid Project, PRCS is looking for highly motivated, dynamic and result oriented candidates for the following positions based at PRCS Provincial Branch Gilgit-Baltuistan:

First Aid Coordinator

Qualification: Masters Degree in Social Sciences /relevant degree in Masters Degree in Medical Sciences, Disaster Management, Public Health, Emergency Response.
Experience: Upto 3-4 years profound working experience in the field of First Aid and Emergency Health Services among communities and partners. Experience in implementing and managing donor funded projects. Strong project management skills. Readiness to work in remote areas. Ability to work independently and as a team member. Ability and agreement to adhere to the Red Cross Red Crescent Fundamental Principles

Desirable:
Movement partners or N/INGOs experience
• Local/project area resident
• Motivated, dedicated, committed and flexible
• Willing to live and work in extreme weather condition in remote areas.

Team PRCS Gilgit-Baltistan, accompanied by the Member Branch Committee District Ghizer, visited Village Khalti, District Ghizer,the most severely affected area in terms of life losses to assess the extent of damage and losses. On the request of GBDMA and the directive of the Honorable Governor Gilgit-Baltistan, the Pakistan Red Crescent Society Gilgit-Baltistan Branch (PRCS GB) swiftly mobilized its resources to provide emergency food packs to the most affected areas.
✅ Haldi Village, District Ghanchy : 53 households received emergency food assistance.
✅ District Kharmang : 47 households received emergency food assistance.
The operation was led by Mr. Ghulam Muhammad (Member Managing Committee Ghanchy) supported by Branch Disaster Response Team Member (BDRT) Mr. Abbas and a group of trained PRCS volunteers, ensuring fair and transparent distribution to the most vulnerable families.
This timely intervention was made possible through strong coordination between GBDMA, PRCS GB and local communities.
Together, we stand committed to serving humanity in times of crisis.

PRCS GB Board Member from District Ghazir Mr. Badar Ud Din Badar along with the Provincial Secretary, staff and volunteers attended the condolence prayers in the flood-affected villages of Yasin Dupas and Khalti, District Ghizer.
They expressed solidarity with the bereaved families and offered prayers for the seven precious lives lost due to the recent flooding.
