Strengthening Response Capacity of Branch, PRCS GB is organized BDRT Training for Volunteers.

Under the Emergency Appeal, Pakistan Red Crescent Society Gilgit-Baltistan conducted a five-day BDRT (Branch Disaster Response Team) Training at the Provincial Headquarters, Gilgit from September 29 to 3 October 2026.

The training brought together 22 volunteers from different districts of Gilgit-Baltistan and was facilitated by Mr. Imran Khan Rana, Secretary PRCS Gilgit-Baltistan, Mr. Mushraf Hussain , Assistant Director Response, NHQ Islamabad and Mr. Muhammad Iqbal, Director Operations, PRCS Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The first three days focused on theoretical learning, covering disaster preparedness, response mechanisms, BDRT roles and coordination. The final two days focused on practical learning through a field simulation at Naltar Bala, Gilgit, where participants responded to a simulated disaster scenario and applied their knowledge in a real-world setting.

The training strengthened participants’ disaster response, teamwork, coordination and decision-making skills, enhancing their readiness to support communities during emergencies.

A meaningful step forward as Pakistan Red Crescent Society Gilgit Baltistan Branch and AI Geo Navigators join hands in Gilgit through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance collaboration in climate resilience, disaster risk reduction, community preparedness, and geospatial innovation.

The partnership will explore the use of AI, GIS, geospatial technologies, and data-driven solutions to better understand local risks and support timely, informed action for more resilient communities across Gilgit-Baltistan

Empowering our team for better community impact!

PRCS GB Branch successfully concluded a comprehensive 3-day Cash Voucher Assistance (CVA) Training for staff and volunteers in Gilgit. This workshop was designed to strengthen their capacity to effectively utilize the CVA tool in the field.

During the closing ceremony, Mr. Imran Nadeem (Member GB Assembly & Chairman, PRCS GB Chapter) congratulated the participants and emphasized the importance of applying this modern tool on the ground to better serve vulnerable communities. Mr. Rana Imran Khan (Secretary, PRCS GB) also welcomed the facilitators and guests, appreciating their role in delivering an exceptional training program.

The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) Gilgit-Baltistan, with the support of the German Red Cross (GRC) and BMZ, organized an awareness campaign in collaboration with the Forest and Wildlife Department, Baltistan Region, and the Solid Waste Management Department, Skardu. Cloth bags were distributed to tourists at the Deosai entry check posts in Sadpara, Skardu, and Chelum, Astore, to promote responsible and environmentally friendly tourism.

The main purpose of the activity was to create awareness among tourists about the ecological sensitivity of Deosai National Park and encourage them to avoid littering. Tourists were encouraged to carry their waste back from the park and dispose of it at designated waste collection points, helping reduce plastic pollution and protect wildlife, water sources, and the fragile ecosystem.

The activity was led by Mr. Junaid Abbas, Assistant Director Climate Change Adaptation, PRCS GB, along with PRCS volunteers, Mr. Khadim Abbas, Conservator Forest and Wildlife, Baltistan Region, with his staff, and Mr. Kacho Imran from the Solid Waste Management Department, Skardu. The initiative highlighted the importance of joint efforts and responsible tourism in protecting Deosai’s unique natural environment for future generations.
