The Director General of the Gilgit-Baltistan Disaster Management Authority (GB-DMA), Mr. Zakir Hussain, paid an official visit to the Provincial Headquarters (PHQ) of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) Gilgit-Baltistan on April 30, 2026. Upon his arrival, the Secretary of the PRCS Gilgit-Baltistan, Mr. Imran Khan Rana, warmly welcomed the distinguished guest. During the visit, the Secretary provided a comprehensive briefing on the history, mandate, and core operational areas of PRCS, with a particular focus on its humanitarian interventions during the 2025 flood emergency across Gilgit-Baltistan. The DG GBDMA commended the Pakistan Red Crescent Society for its continued commitment and effective response as a key humanitarian partner, working in close coordination with GB-DMA and other stakeholders. He specifically appreciated PRCS interventions in Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) and the deployment of Mobile Health Units in disaster-affected communities, recognizing these initiatives as flagship programs contributing significantly to relief and recovery efforts in the region. During the discussion, Mr. Zakir Hussain emphasized the importance of strengthened coordination and information sharing among partner organizations. He suggested that PRCS share its operational data with GBDMA to support the development of a comprehensive database encompassing all stakeholders’ interventions in disaster management. He further highlighted that effective resource mapping of all partners is essential to avoid duplication of efforts and ensure a more efficient and targeted humanitarian response. The visit concluded with a vote of thanks from the DG GBDMA, who expressed his appreciation to the Secretary PRCS and his team for their dedication and valuable contributions to disaster risk management and humanitarian services in Gilgit-Baltistan
