Association for Women's Awareness and Rural Development (AWARD)

AWARD was established on March 21, 1994 and is dedicated to community development work without any discrimination of s*x, caste, color, race and religion. It mainly helps the low income women and disadvantaged rural population to improve their socio- economic & basic human rights situation through group meetings, seminars, workshops, conferences, trainings and by providing them moral, professional

and financial assistance in Projects and Programs. At present, AWARD is working in 4 districts namely Faisalabad(Centeral Punjab), Toba Tek Singh(Centeral Punjab), Muzaffargarh (Southern Punjab) & Manshera (KPK).

AWARD Pakistan, under its Poverty Reduction Project (PRP) organised a series of interactive theater sessions on " Effects of early-age marriages in collaboration with AGAHI theatre. These theatre performances were organised at three villages Chak #-142, Chak # -
296 and Chak #-280 of District Faisalabad and Toba Tek Sing from 17 to 20 April 2026. A total of 242 male and female participated .
Ms. Kinza Zafar, Project Officer, shared key objectives of this activity. IEC material was distributed by social mobilizers. AGAHI Theater Group created a dynamic and engaging environment, encouraging strong community participation, open dialogue, and thoughtful feedback from attendees.

𝐀𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐃 𝐏𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧, under its 𝐔𝐑𝐀𝐀𝐍 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭, conducted *3* 𝐌𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 & 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐒𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐬 on 𝐕𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 & 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 in 𝐙𝐮𝐛𝐚𝐢𝐝𝐚 𝐓𝐨𝐰𝐧, 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐤 424, and 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐤 241 𝐉𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐝, 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐝, engaging a total of 225 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬.

The seminars focused on promoting 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥-𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, available training opportunities, and the role of vocational skills in enhancing 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐟-𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞, and 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲. Participants were engaged through interactive discussions and practical examples to explore diverse career pathways.

The sessions were facilitated by project staff, representatives from technical institutions, and industry professionals, providing insights on market demands and skill development opportunities. The seminars concluded with strong participation and a clear commitment from youth to pursue vocational training for sustainable livelihoods and community development.

Smiling and Skilled Sindh : In the heart of a once-forgotten, flood-affected Sindh, a powerful transformation unfolded , one stitched with resilience, dignity, and hope. At Faisal Rafiq Hall, nearly 100 young women from vulnerable communities gathered not just to receive certificates, but to celebrate a new beginning.

These girls, who once faced limited opportunities and social constraints, have now successfully completed training in modern stitching and vocational skills through AWARD’s initiative. What was once uncertainty has now turned into confidence , hands that struggled are now skilled, and minds that doubted are now empowered.

Through Building Resilience and Recovery Program, AWARD not only supported community recovery by improving basic infrastructure like sanitation and water access but also invested in human potential, especially young women. The training equipped them with practical, income-generating skills, opening doors to financial independence and dignity.

Sewing machines were distributed among top-performing students, ensuring that skills gained will translate into livelihoods. These tools are not just machines; they are instruments of empowerment, enabling these young women to contribute to their families and communities.

From deprivation to determination, these girls now stand ready to shape their futures. Smiling faces, proud families, and hopeful communities reflected a new Sindh, one where opportunity is stitched into every life touched by AWARD.

𝐀𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐃 𝐏𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧, under its 𝐏𝐑𝐏 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭, successfully conducted two 𝐊𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐆𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 on 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 9 and 10, 2026 in 𝐘𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐫 𝐓𝐨𝐰𝐧, 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐝 and 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐤 𝐍𝐨. 280 𝐃𝐮𝐠𝐠𝐚𝐥, 𝐓𝐨𝐛𝐚 𝐓𝐞𝐤 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐠, with a total of 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐲-𝐒𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 (47) 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐆𝐢𝐫𝐥𝐬 participating in the sessions.

The trainings were facilitated by 𝐃𝐫. 𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐚 𝐍𝐨𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐧, Associate Professor at GC University Faisalabad, along with 𝐒𝐢𝐫 𝐁𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐥 from the Agriculture University. They provided detailed guidance on the 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐊𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐆𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠, methods of growing vegetables and fruits at home, and conducted practical demonstrations on 𝐒𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠, where participants actively engaged and practiced the techniques.

At the end of the trainings, 𝐒𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 were distributed among all participants to support kitchen gardening at the household level. The participants appreciated the sessions, showed keen interest, and expressed their willingness to adopt these practices. Both trainings were completed successfully, contributing to improved household nutrition and sustainable livelihoods.

On 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 11–12, 2026, the 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 (𝐖𝐋𝐏) organized a two-day 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 at 𝐅𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞, 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐝 for potential businesswomen from six districts of Punjab. The training aimed to strengthen entrepreneurial skills and support women who are already managing small businesses across 12 different trades.

During the training, different resource persons conducted interactive sessions on key aspects of business development. 𝐌rs. 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐚 𝐏𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫 shared the importance of business growth and management skills, while 𝐌𝐬. 𝐍𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐛 𝐀𝐬𝐢𝐦 conducted a session on marketing and introduced practical marketing tools. 𝐌𝐫. 𝐀𝐳𝐞𝐞𝐦 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐩𝐡𝐞𝐫 discussed the role of innovation in business, and 𝐌𝐫. 𝐍𝐚𝐣𝐮𝐦 𝐑𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐝 delivered a session on bookkeeping, sharing simple methods to maintain financial records effectively.

At the closing ceremony, 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐊𝐑 65,000 were awarded to 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐲 (30) 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐰𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 to support the expansion of their businesses. The cheques were presented by 𝐌𝐫𝐬. 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐚 𝐏𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫, 𝐌𝐫. Najum Rasheed, 𝐌𝐫. 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐧 𝐑𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐝, and 𝐌𝐬. 𝐒𝐚𝐣𝐢𝐝𝐚 𝐐𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫.

Participants actively engaged in the sessions and shared positive feedback, highlighting that the training helped them strengthen their 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞, 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐬, and 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐝-𝐊𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬.

On March 18, 2026, the Youth Development Association (YDA), in collaboration with AWARD, convened a powerful and timely seminar titled “Human Values and Women Protection Laws” at Prayer Tower Ministry Church. The event brought together 83 young participants including 64 girls and women and 19 boys creating a meaningful platform for learning, reflection, and empowerment.

The seminar opened with an inspiring session by Rev. Pastor Babar Mashi, who emphasized the transformative power of faith, prayer, and ethical living rooted in Christian values. He called on youth to embody respect, kindness, and compassion in their daily lives, while firmly rejecting all forms of bullying and discrimination.

The second session, led by Ms. Risfa Shams, was both informative and empowering. She shed light on women’s constitutional rights and key protection laws in Pakistan, stressing the importance of gender equality and legal awareness. Her session highlighted critical safeguards against harassment and underscored the significance of the Child Marriage Restraint Law (2025) in protecting young girls from early and forced marriages.

The seminar concluded on a note of gratitude and unity, with heartfelt thanks extended to AWARD, Prayer Tower Ministry Church, and the distinguished speakers for their invaluable contributions. More than just an event, the seminar served as a catalyst for awareness, equipping youth especially young women with the knowledge, confidence, and voice to stand for their rights and shape a more just and compassionate society.

𝐀𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐃 𝐏𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧 organized two 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐎𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 under its 𝐔𝐑𝐀𝐀𝐍 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭, aimed at promoting the sustainable socio-economic development of youth in 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐝 and 𝐓𝐨𝐛𝐚 𝐓𝐞𝐤 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐠. The meetings were held at 𝐒𝐢𝐫 𝐏𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐡𝐳𝐚𝐝 𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐥, 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐝 and 𝐒𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐂𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐂𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐥, 𝐆𝐨𝐣𝐫𝐚, with the participation of 𝐄𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐲-𝐅𝐢𝐯𝐞 (85) 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 and 𝐂𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬.

The purpose of the orientation was to share the 𝐀𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐏𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐞 and to introduce the objectives, activities, and implementation strategy of the 𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐏𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐞 (2026–2027). Participants were briefed on key interventions, expected outcomes, and their role in supporting project activities.

The meetings also provided a platform for dialogue and collaboration, allowing stakeholders to share their insights and reaffirm their commitment to supporting 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐕𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 & 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬, 𝐏𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠, and 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧. The sessions strengthened coordination among community leaders and institutions and encouraged their active participation in the successful implementation of the URAAN project.

On March 3, 2026, a meaningful Scholarship Awarding Ceremony was organized under the Holistic Development Initiative, celebrating hope, opportunity, and the power of education.

The ceremony opened with warm welcome remarks by Ms. Sheeza Sarfraz, Project Officer, who appreciated the dedication of the students and emphasized the importance of continuing education despite challenges.

The event was honored by the presence of Madam Christina Peter, Executive Director, and Sir Najum Rasheed, Finance Manager. Addressing the students, Madam Christina highlighted AWARD’s commitment to investing in the future of deserving children and encouraged them to remain focused on their studies, work hard, and use the scholarship support wisely for their educational needs.

Through this initiative, 50 students from grades 4 to 9 received scholarships to help them continue their educational journey also enabling them to cover admission fees and purchase essential school items such as bags, books, and uniforms.

The beneficiaries belong to underprivileged families who often struggle to meet educational expenses. Students from Chak No. 3 JB, Chak No. 118 JB, Chak No. 246 GB, and Daud Nagar Faisalabad were among those supported through this initiative.

This small yet meaningful support brings renewed confidence, dignity, and hope to these young learners, empowering them to continue their education and dream of a brighter future.

At AWARD, we believe that when a child is supported to stay in school, an entire community moves one step closer to transformation.

Community women in rural areas of Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, and Khairpur came together to celebrate International Women’s Day through gatherings facilitated by the field teams of AWARD Pakistan. The celebrations created a safe and encouraging space where women shared their experiences, recognized their contributions to families and communities, and reflected on the importance of dignity, equality, and opportunity for women. Through discussions, motivational talks, and moments of reflection, the gatherings strengthened solidarity among community women and encouraged them to support each other while promoting girls’ education and participation in community life.

The celebrations helped raise awareness about women’s rights and increased confidence among participants to voice their aspirations and challenges. Women acknowledged their growing role in community development through skills, small businesses, and household support, while also highlighting the need for continued progress. Many expressed their hope for greater access to justice, education, vocational skills, financial opportunities, and leadership roles. The events reinforced the message that when women are empowered with knowledge, skills, and opportunities, they become powerful agents of change for their families and communities.
