𝐒𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩𝐬, 𝐌𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞

“Small steps today can create a better Pakistan tomorrow.”

On International Youth Day, AWARD Pakistan, under its Women Leadership Program (WLP), in collaboration with the Pakistan Emerging Leaders Network - Faisalabad (PELN), Faisalabad, engaged 70 young people in a session on “Small Steps, Community Actions, and Building a Better Pakistan.”

The session encouraged youth to recognize their role in community action and positive change. Through interactive discussions, participants shared ideas, raised questions, and reflected on practical ways they can contribute to their communities.

The session strengthened youth awareness, confidence, and participation, encouraging young people to move from ideas to small but meaningful actions that can create lasting change. From practical community insights to inspiring reflections, Sir Azeem Christopher, Sir Nasim Anthony, and RASTA community leaders encouraged youth to turn awareness into action.

Facilitated by Miss Merry Nadeem, the session reminded us: change doesn’t always start big - it starts when young people choose to speak up and take the first step.

When young people take action, even small steps can become part of a bigger change.

𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬

For many women from remote and marginalized communities, earning an income from home had never seemed possible. With limited exposure to vocational skills and small business ideas, these opportunities remained beyond their awareness that simple, low-cost products made with locally available materials could become a source of income.

On 𝟐𝟕 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝟐𝟖 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, 𝐀𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐃 𝐏𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧, under its 𝐏𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 (𝐏𝐑𝐏), organized 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 at the AWARD Resource Center, benefiting 𝟔𝟓 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬. The practical sessions covered detergent and phenyl making, handmade bag making, and handmade jewellery making, led by 𝐌𝐫. 𝐑𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐉𝐚𝐧 (𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫, 𝐅𝐈𝐆𝐎 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐬) and 𝐌𝐬. 𝐌𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐤𝐚 𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐡𝐚𝐝 (𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫, 𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐚 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬). Participants also benefited from a motivational session by 𝐌𝐫𝐬. 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐚 𝐏𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫 (𝐄𝐱𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫) and a marketing session by 𝐌𝐬. 𝐍𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐛 𝐀𝐬𝐢𝐦 (𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐫), equipping them with both practical skills and basic marketing knowledge.

Participants appreciated the training, sharing that it introduced them to practical home-based income opportunities and inspired them to begin supporting their families through their newly acquired skills.

For many participants, what were once ordinary household items are now seen as opportunities to earn an income from home, support their families, and take the first step toward financial independence.

Every year, thousands of talented graduates dream of becoming civil servants. Yet many never take the first step—not because they lack potential, but because they lack guidance, direction, and access to the right opportunities.

To bridge this gap, 𝐀𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐃 𝐏𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧, under its 𝐔𝐑𝐀𝐀𝐍 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭, organized a 𝐂𝐒𝐒, 𝐏𝐌𝐒, 𝐅𝐏𝐒𝐂 & 𝐏𝐏𝐒𝐂 𝐌𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐒𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫 at 𝐖𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐈𝐧𝐧 𝐇𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐥, 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐝, bringing together 𝟗𝟎 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 eager to shape their future through public service.

Real change doesn’t begin with an organization—it begins with the community.

At AWARD Pakistan, we brought together community-selected leaders from 04 rural areas of Faisalabad for a one-day leadership training under our Sustainable Livelihood Project. They explored community building, their roles during and beyond the project, and how both women and men can lead positive change in their families and villages.

When local leaders take ownership, communities don’t wait for change, they create it.
