The 2-day International Conference on Global Environmental Changes: Challenges, Impacts & Solutions for Sustainability (ICGEC-2026) concluded at Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF). The conference, organized by the Department of Environmental Sciences, brought together scientists, researchers, and experts from France, Austria, Thailand, China, Taiwan, Philippines, and Pakistan.
Prof. Dr. Rauf Azam, Vice Chancellor of GCUF, chaired the event, which saw participation from across Pakistan, including environmental experts, researchers, and students. The conference aimed to address environmental challenges in agriculture, industry, and healthcare, and develop effective strategies for the future.
Over 500 participants attended, with 18 technical sessions, 150 research presentations, and 130+ poster exhibitions. Prof. Dr. Sabir Hussain led as Principal Organizer, and Prof. Dr. Farhat Jabeen served as Patron.
The Vice Chancellor highlighted the importance of such conferences in advancing environmental research. Speakers, including Prof. Dr. Khan Alam (Bacha Khan University), Prof. Dr. Zafar Ali Chauhdary (Faisalabad Medical University), and Prof. Dr. Azim Khalid (Soil Science Society of Pakistan), emphasized the need for international cooperation and sustainable development to address climate change impacts on agriculture, health, and the economy.
The conference underscored the role of collaboration between academia, research institutions, and industry in tackling environmental challenges.
