The Maimar Development Organization (MDO) is an independent, voluntary, non profit women’s association which is not associated or affiliated with the government or any political party. MDO is registered under the Society registration Act (XXI of 1860), with its main office in Faisalabad. MDO is working for the promotion and protection of human rights of women since 2006. The associatio
n is committed to create women rights activism among the grassroots communities to improve the lot of oppressed women (women with disabilities, minorities, domestic workers and home based workers) in Pakistan. MDO believes that activism evolve and engage lower class women, who form majority of the population. The main aims of the association include, creating, raising and extending awareness of human rights among the people, mobilizing public opinion, collecting information and exchanging knowledge and experience about human rights and women rights with other likeminded organizations. Organization is making conscious hope of obtaining some recognition of the identity and rights of women (women with disabilities, minorities, home based workers and domestic workers) by involving them in different activities and raising voice for women’s rights at different forums. Since its inception, MDO is engaged in outreach activities (Human Rights Awareness, Health & TB Awareness, Group formation, Discussions & Consultations, Training Workshops, Seminars, Rallies & Demonstration, and Legal & paralegal aid services) to address women related issues in different urban, semi-urban and rural areas of Punjab Province.
