Looking good on camera requires makeup that enhances your features without looking overdone. Here are some makeup tips for looking photogenic and video-genic:
1. Prepping Your Skin
✔ Hydrate & Prime – Use a moisturizer and a mattifying primer to create a smooth base.
✔ Avoid Heavy Sunscreen – Some sunscreens cause flashback (a white cast) in photos.
2. Base Makeup (Foundation & Concealer)
✔ Choose Matte or Satin Finish – Dewy foundations can look oily on camera.
✔ Blend Well – Uneven foundation looks more obvious on HD cameras. Use a damp sponge for a natural look.
✔ Conceal Strategically – Apply under the eyes, around the nose, and on blemishes for a flawless finish.
3. Contouring & Blush
✔ Define Your Features – Light contouring under the cheekbones, jawline, and nose adds depth.
✔ Use Warm-Toned Blush – Peach or rose shades add life to your face without looking washed out.
✔ Blend, Blend, Blend! – Harsh lines are more noticeable in photos and videos.
4. Eyes & Brows
✔ Fill in Brows Naturally – Use a brow pencil or powder slightly lighter than your natural color.
✔ Use Neutral Eyeshadows – Soft browns and warm neutrals enhance your eyes without looking too heavy.
✔ Eyeliner & Lashes – A thin, slightly upward wing lifts the eyes; mascara or false lashes define them.
5. Lips
✔ Avoid Glossy Lips – Matte or satin finishes work better on camera and prevent glare.
✔ Define with Lip Liner – Overlining slightly (but naturally) enhances lips for a fuller look.
✔ Go for Classic Shades – Nudes, pinks, and reds (based on your skin tone) look elegant.
6. Setting & Final Touches
✔ Set with Powder – Focus on the T-zone to prevent shine.
✔ Use Setting Spray – It locks in makeup and reduces a powdery look.
✔ Blot Before Shooting – If you have oily skin, blotting papers help prevent excess shine.
