Safe Delivery Safe Mother is joining the Every Pregnancy 2026 Partner Convening!

The Every Pregnancy coalition has grown to more than 80 organizations across 25 countries, collectively mobilizing over $135 million to advance maternal and newborn health.

From November 6–9, Safe Delivery Safe Mother will join partners from around the world in Istanbul for the Every Pregnancy 2026 Partner Convening,
presented by Humaniti.

Together, we'll explore one important question: What can we achieve for mothers and newborns that none of us can achieve alone? We look forward to sharing ideas, strengthening partnerships and turning collective ambition into action.

This World Mental Health Day, we're drawing attention to perinatal depression — a significant yet often overlooked maternal health concern.

Research in Pakistan estimates that 37% of women experience depression during pregnancy, highlighting the importance of recognising mental health needs alongside physical healthcare.

At Safe Delivery Safe Mother, our commitment to maternal well-being extends beyond childbirth. We recognise the importance of awareness, compassionate support, and stronger healthcare systems that respond to women's needs throughout their maternal journey.

A significant step forward for mental health in Pakistan. 🇵🇰

Pakistan has launched its National Mental Health Policy 2026–2035, marking an important milestone towards strengthening mental health systems, improving access to care, and promoting inclusive, community-based support across the country.

At Safe Delivery Safe Mother (SDSM), we recognize that mental well-being is an essential part of maternal, child, and family health. From pregnancy and postpartum recovery to the everyday challenges faced by women and families, mental health deserves the same attention and priority as physical health.

We welcome this initiative and hope to see meaningful progress towards accessible, compassionate, and equitable mental healthcare for all.

Every year, PPH takes mothers' lives. In Pakistan, it causes 27% of maternal deaths. 🤍

It is also preventable when trained health workers are there at the right moment.

On Postpartum Haemorrhage Day, here is what we saw in our training pilot in Sheikhupura, Punjab:

- Correct answers on PPH knowledge rose from 90% to 98% after training

-100 trained community midwives conducted 1,557 deliveries in 6 months

-100% of clients interviewed said they would recommend their midwife

As one midwife told us: "Now I can deal with PPH cases more confidently."

Prevention and treatment of PPH is one of Safe Delivery Safe Mother's flagship training programs. So far we have trained 500+ frontline health staff across Punjab and Gilgit-Baltistan, so that more mothers have someone skilled beside them when every minute matters.

This PPH Day, we renew our commitment to equipping frontline health workers to make childbirth safer for every mother.
