Today, on World Kidney Cancer Day, the Social Welfare Society of Bannu Medical College stands united with the global medical community in raising awareness about one of the most silent yet increasingly prevalent cancers worldwide — kidney cancer.

Kidney cancer affects more than 430,000 individuals globally each year and claims over 155,000 lives. In Pakistan alone, an estimated 1,374 new cases are reported annually, with 483 deaths, often due to late diagnosis and lack of awareness

The Social Welfare Society encourages every student, faculty member, and citizen to learn about the signs of kidney cancer and support those who fight it daily. Together, through education, compassion, and community outreach, we can promote early detection and reduce preventable deaths.

The Social Welfare Society of Bannu Medical College (BMC) successfully organized an academic quiz competition titled “Students in Training - SIT - Jeopardy”. The intellectually stimulating event brought together six competitive teams representing various regions and districts.

The competition consisted of three rounds. In Round 1, Teams A, B, and C competed, with Team B—representing Kohat, Karak, and surrounding districts—emerging victorious. Round 2 saw Teams D, E, and F compete, and Team E—comprising participants from Abbottabad, Haripur, Battagram, and surrounding areas—secured the win.

The final round was a face-off between Team B and Team E, where Team E claimed the championship title. The winning team received a cash prize of PKR 10,000, while the runner-up was awarded PKR 5,000.

The competition was conducted using a software-based system where all questions were displayed on a web-based platform, and teams were required to respond instantly using their mobile phones, ensuring transparency and quick evaluation.

In addition to the main competition, three interactive questions were posed to the audience. Participants who answered correctly were rewarded with cash prizes of PKR 500 each, adding enthusiasm and engagement among the attendees.
