CALL FOR SAFE SPACES FOR EVERY CHILD

We are deeply saddened by the tragic shooting incident at a school in Zamboanga City that claimed the lives of students and left others injured. Our thoughts are with the children, families, teachers, and the entire school community affected by this heartbreaking incident.

Schools should be places where children feel safe, protected, heard, and free to learn. No child should have to fear violence in a place where they are meant to grow, discover, and build their future.

We also urge everyone to avoid sharing graphic images, videos, or unverified information about the incident. Protecting children also means protecting their dignity and privacy, especially during moments of trauma.

Let us come together to build communities where every child can grow up safe, supported, and surrounded by people who listen and care.

Every child deserves a safe place to learn.
Every child deserves to be protected.
Every child deserves hope.

STRENGTHENING CHILD PARTICIPATION AND SAFEGUARDING! 💙

From July 29 to August 3, 2026, National Ombuds Philippines Ms. Marivir Tungol visited SOS Children's Villages Iloilo to raise awareness and deepen understanding of the Ombuds approach among children and young people, co-workers, SOS Mothers and Aunts, and members of the Local Village Committee.

The Ombuds is a trusted and independent person who listens, supports, and guides children, young people, and adults toward solutions. Using a child-centered approach, the Ombuds empowers children to actively participate, voice their concerns, and help shape safe and responsive environments where their rights and well-being are upheld.

We are grateful to Ms. Marivir for sharing her expertise and strengthening our shared commitment to ensuring that every child's voice is heard, valued, and respected.

Together, we continue giving hope a chance. 💙

EDRIAN’S JOURNEY TO INDEPENDENCE

Edrian grew up in SOS Children’s Village Davao, where he experienced care, guidance, and a strong sense of community. Surrounded by support from his SOS mother, peers, and older youth, he learned the importance of family and togetherness.

“The village taught me the importance of family and community,” he recalls. “We were all there for each other, and that helped shape who I am today.”

THANK YOU, UNO-R SOCIAL WORK INTERNS! 💜

On July 30, 2026, we celebrated the completion of the 300-hour Field Instruction internship of our four dedicated Titas from the Social Work Program of the University of Negros Occidental–Recoletos (UNO-R). Throughout their supervised fieldwork, they applied their knowledge and skills in case management while providing meaningful support to the children and youth in our care.

We sincerely appreciate their dedication and commitment to the social work profession. As they take the next step in their journey, we hope they carry with them the values that they have embraced during their time with us.

Thank you for giving hope a chance! 💙✨

STRENGTHENING PARTNERSHIPS THROUGH LEARNING AND INNOVATION 💙

SOS Children's Villages Iloilo and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VI formally strengthened their shared commitment to quality social welfare services through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) under the Social Welfare and Development Learning Network (SWD L-Net). The agreement was signed by DSWD Regional Director Mr. Joselito G. Estember and SOS Iloilo Director Ms. Jedd M. Ninofranco.

The partnership reflects a shared vision of advancing professional capacities by promoting the exchange of resources, expertise, and best practices among social welfare practitioners. Through the SWD L-Net, both institutions reaffirm their commitment to continuous learning and innovation that strengthen programs and services for children, families, and communities.

In her message, VD Jedd highlighted that the partnership reflects the organizations' shared commitment to advancing capacities and ensuring quality programs and services in the best interest of their clients while contributing to the development of the greater community. She also emphasized that while SOS Children's Villages continues to innovate and build on decades of experience in child care, it cannot work in silos. Collaboration with partners such as DSWD is essential to share resources, learnings, and good practices that will better equip fellow professionals in serving children, families, and communities.

We are grateful to DSWD Field Office VI for this meaningful partnership and look forward to working together in strengthening the social welfare workforce and creating a lasting impact for the children, youth, and families we serve.

Together, we continue to give hope a chance. 💙
