Yuppies for Peace is an independent group of friends and young professionals in Zamboanga City. Since 2013, the group has been actively participating in social advocacies and community outreach programs. The group is deeply inspired from the vision and mission of Silsilah Dialogue Movement, an NGO in Zamboanga City, as most members were active Peace Volunteers who underwent several trainings on th
e culture of dialogue, volunteerism and leadership during their younger years. Presently, as young professionals, members find time to meet regularly for formation activities, and discuss project ideas on how to continue being active in their communities. The group has also been spreading their initiative to friends, co-workers, families to better help spread volunteerism as a lifestyle. So far, the group has tapped other small organizations and independent groups thereby widening their circle of members and volunteers. It is only recently that the group has started marketing their efforts for the sole reason of reaching out to more people for sponsorships, donations and volunteers. Currently, the group's funds and supplies mainly come from their volunteers' own money and efforts in finding pledges. The group is currently working on fund raising activities such as: 1. T-shirt printing and selling wherein each shirt bought corresponds to a number of notebooks for the Notebook Project. And 2., Life Sessions. This is an hour over coffee or tea with fellow young professionals in Zamboanga City on specific dates and specific topics with a registration fee of P150.00. The group's main goal is to be continuous catalysts of change in Zamboanga City. As young professionals, we want to give back to our hometown and make it a better place than it is now. In the long run, the group aims to partner with organizations within and outside Zamboanga City to spread the group's initiative and help more people and more communities. Through the Notebook Mo, Kinabukasan Ko Project, Yuppies for Peace aims to:
1. Help less fortunate kids by simply providing notebooks and other school supplies.
2. Inspire children to work harder as students despite their circumstances to achieve their dreams.
3. Serve as role models to children and to fellow young professionals to give back to the community.
4. Continue to be promoters of dialogue for harmony and peace.
