PASWI Zamboanga City Chapter Sends Off Future Social Workers

ZAMBOANGA CITY — The Philippine Association of Social Workers, Inc. (PASWI) Zamboanga City Chapter recently held a send-off activity for social work students and graduates who are set to take the Social Work Licensure Examination (SWLE) held at Don Pablo Memorial High School, Zamboanga City.

The activity was organized to express the chapter’s support, encouragement, and best wishes to the aspiring social workers as they take one of the most important steps toward becoming licensed professionals.

During the send-off, PASWI Zamboanga City Chapter officers headed by the chapter president Ms. Ma. Socorro Rojas together with some officers reminded the examinees to trust in their preparation, remain focused, and carry with them the values and principles of the social work profession.

The send-off also served as an opportunity to inspire the examinees and remind them that the journey toward becoming a social worker is not only about passing the examination, but also about preparing to serve individuals, families, groups, and communities with competence, compassion, and commitment.

“Your preparation, perseverance, and dedication have brought you this far. As you face the examination, believe in yourselves, trust your training, and remember why you chose social work,” added by Pres. Rojas to the examinees.

The PASWI Zamboanga City Chapter likewise expressed its confidence in the future social workers and encouraged them to face the examination with courage and a positive mindset.

As the examinees embark on this significant milestone, PASWI Zamboanga City Chapter stands with them in solidarity, sending its warmest wishes for success.

May you all pass the Social Work Licensure Examination and soon join the profession as competent, compassionate, and committed social workers. Congratulations in advance, future RSWs!

| ONWARD AND UPWARD FOR SOCIAL WORK IN ZAMBOANGA CITY |

The Philippine Association of Social Workers, Inc. (PASWI) - Zamboanga City Chapter officially ushered in a new era of dedicated service as its newly elected Board of Trustees for the 2026–2028 term were formally sworn into office. The oath-taking ceremony was administered by Atty. Ellaine Uy-Falcasantos.

The officers sworn into office for the new leadership term are:

Beyond legislative advocacy, the chapter will continuously conduct specialized training workshops, capacity-building programs, fellowship activities, and community outreach initiatives tailored for its dedicated members.

Requiescat in pace, Ma’am Vicky!

PASWI Zamboanga City Chapter joins the community with deep sorrow as we mourn the passing of Retired Dean Prof. Victoria G. Alojado, who joined our Creator yesterday, November 7.

Ma'am Vicky wasn't just our current Auditor and former Secretary; she was the heart and soul of our association, a person whose activity and commitment were truly boundless.

To the thousands of Social Work professionals she molded—especially at the WMSU College of Social Work and Community Development (CSWCD)—we share your pain. She was, without question, the very kind Dean and Professor, remembered for her unparalleled warmth, her comforting presence, and the genuine care she showed every single person. She taught us empathy not just through lectures, but through her own life.

We stand with her family, friends, and the entire social work community in mourning this immense loss.

Thank you, Ma'am Vicky, for pouring your kindness, wisdom, and life into all of us. You will be missed beyond measure.

IN PHOTOS: PASWI Zamboanga Chapter President Dr. Marcelina Carpizo and some social work students extended their personal good luck wishes to all aspiring Registered Social Workers taking the 2025 Social Work Licensure Examination.

Starting today, September 8, until September 10, around 525 examinees from universities and colleges in Zamboanga City, Basilan, and Sulu will put their knowledge to the test. The exam covers crucial subjects, including Human Behavior and Social Environment, Social Welfare Policies, Social Work Practice, and Social Work Methods.
