As part of Mindanao Week of Peace (MWOP) 2025 celebration, the Peace Advocates Zamboanga (PAZ), the Interreligious Solidarity for Peace (ISP) and Fhatwa Islamic Institute will hold ๐“๐š๐ซ๐š๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฅ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ ๐๐ž๐š๐œ๐ž tomorrow, ๐ƒ๐ž๐œ๐ž๐ฆ๐›๐ž๐ซ 2, ๐Ÿ๐ซ๐จ๐ฆ 2โ€“6 ๐๐Œ at ๐‚๐จ๐ง๐ฏ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐‡๐š๐ฅ๐ฅ, ๐€๐ฆ๐ข๐ฅ๐ฌ ๐“๐จ๐ฐ๐ž๐ซ, ๐๐ข๐ฅ๐š๐ซ ๐’๐ญ., ๐™๐š๐ฆ๐›๐จ๐š๐ง๐ ๐š ๐‚๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ.

It can be written in Tausug, Yakan, Subanen, Sama, Chavacano, or Filipino, and is often used in contests, programs, and community dialogues.

Coconut Planting for Peace

The Peace Advocates Zamboanga (PAZ) and the Interreligious Solidarity for Peace (ISP) extend heartfelt gratitude to Campo Vida Agricultural Learning Center -ZC, for organizing a Coconut Planting for Peace in commemoration of the Mindanao Week of Peace (MWOP) 2025.

On November 30, 2025, the Peace Advocates Zamboanga (PAZ), the Interreligious Solidarity for Peace (ISP), and the Zamboanga-Basilan Integrated Development Alliance, Inc. (ZABIDA) conferred the 2025 Peaceweaver Awards at Astoria Hotel, Zamboanga City, honoring seven outstanding champions of peace, including two posthumous awardees and 1 organization. The ceremony, supported by the City Government of Zamboanga, was graced by Hon. Celso L. Lobregat, Chief of Staff/Secretary to the Mayor, representing Zamboanga City Mayor Khymer Adan T. Olaso.

The ceremony was also attended by partners from religious institutions, the academe, civil society organizations, partner communities, media, government agencies, and the security sector.

The awards were conferred by the ISP Lead Conveners, together with PAZ and ZABIDA. The selection, chaired by ZABIDA Chairperson, Atty. Jose Manuel S. Mamauag, was guided by the HEALING Framework, recognizing champions of Human Rights, Health, Education, Agriculture & Food Security, Livelihood and Economic, Interreligious Dialogue, Nurturing Arts & Culture, and Good Governance.

This award is part of the Mindanao Week of Peace (MWOP) 2025 Celebration, with the theme: โ€œTransparency and Accountability: Our Hope for Justice and Peace,โ€ highlighting the shared responsibility of citizens and leaders in fostering integrity, justice, and lasting peace.

MINDANAO WEEK OF PEACE REELS OFF NOV. 27-DEC. 3| Peace advocates participated in the parade from the City Hall to Paseo del Mar Thursday, November 27, kicking off the celebration of Mindanao Week of Peace (MWOP) 2025 with the theme โ€œTransparency and Accountability: Our Hope for Justice and Peace.โ€

Even as the weather shifted from sunny to rainy, the crowd remained, showing the communityโ€™s strong and united commitment to peace.

Organized by the Peace Advocates Zamboanga (PAZ), the MWOP is an annual activity observed since 2001 through Proclamation order 127 issued by then President Arroyo, โ€œto recognize the common aspirations of Mindanaoans to live in peace, unity and harmony with eath other regardless of life, religion or culture.โ€

In his keynote speech, Mayor Khymer Olaso through Chief of Staff and Secretary to the Mayor Celso Lobregat hailed the PAZ led by Dr. Rufina Cruz, for leading the advocacy for nearly three decades now and for โ€œreminding the whole of Mindanao and the entire country that peace is not a far ideal but a daily choice, a shared responsibiltiy, and a legacy we must build together.โ€

Fr. Dante C. Boringgot, CMF, Interreligious Solidarity for Peace (ISP) convenor for the Catholic community in his opening message emphasized that โ€œthe absence of accountability is the absence of peace.โ€

The program also featured highlights from last yearโ€™s MWOP celebration, with Dr. Grace Rebolloฬs presenting the rationale behind this yearโ€™s design and theme. Sheikh โ€œMahirโ€ Gustaham, ISP Convener for the Muslim Community, led the official reading of the MWOP 2025 Statement, reinforcing the call for unity and shared responsibility.

The opening program concluded with a cultural presentation by the ZC IP Youth Organization, followed by a joyful community dance led by MWOP volunteers. The celebration opened the week with a strong message of harmony, resilience, and the collective hope for a just and peaceful Mindanao.

The MWOP celebration is a joint effort with the city government and other agencies such as the Interreligious Solidarity for Peace (ISP), Zamboanga-Basilan Integrated Development Alliance, Inc. (ZABIDA), Campo Vida Learning Center, ASMAE, Youth Solidarity for Peace, Jovenes Allianza de Zamboanga (JADZ), Zamboanga City IP Youth Organization, Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University, DepEd- Zamboanga City Division Peace Education Program Council, Anti-VAWC Alliance and the WMSU-Peace anda Human Security Institute.
