VERDAD proudly congratulates 𝗠𝘀. 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝘀𝗮𝘆𝗼, Social Media Coordinator, and 𝗠𝘀. Out of more than 540 applicants from across the Philippines, they are among the 150 young leaders chosen to join this distinguished leadership program, recognizing their commitment to public service, civic engagement, and youth leadership.

‎Organized and led by the 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐥 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 (𝐒𝐒𝐂𝐒𝐏) 𝐙𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐨𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫, the VERDAD Organization joined 𝐊𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐑𝐔𝐍 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 on July 24, a fun run held in commemoration of the 𝐖𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐚 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, promoting patriotism, unity, and national awareness.

‎As one of the implementing sponsors of the event, VERDAD received a 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒒𝒖𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝑹𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒈𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 from SSCSP Zamboanga in recognition of its support. Additionally, one of our members, 𝑱𝒂𝒔𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒆 𝑴𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒆 𝑼𝒏𝒈𝒂𝒃, actively participated in the event as one of the runners, demonstrating the organization's commitment to advocacies that promotes civic engagement and solidarity.

‎We extend our sincere gratitude to SSCSP Zamboanga for allowing VERDAD to be part of this meaningful initiative. As advocates of good governance, VERDAD will continuously join and support programs and activities that promote patriotism, civic responsibility, and greater public awareness of the West Philippine Sea.

Last July 22, 2026, the VERDAD Organization held its Executive Board and Officers Meeting. It was attended by the directors and deputy directors from each office to discuss the accomplishments from the past six months of this year. It also served as an opportunity to discuss the way forward for the organization's upcoming programs and activities, as well as other matters that are crucial to its continuous growth and operations. As an organization that values accountability, the meeting successfully showcased VERDAD's commitment to transparency, collaboration, and responsible leadership.

Last July 13–14, 2026, 𝘼𝙖𝙧𝙤𝙣 𝘼𝙗𝙚𝙟𝙤𝙣, 𝙇𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙈𝙖𝙦𝙪𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙖, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙉𝙪𝙧𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙖 𝙐𝙡𝙡𝙞, officers of VERDAD Organization, proudly participated in the 𝙎𝙖𝙠𝙩𝙤 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙇𝙖𝙗 2026 as aspiring Sakto Trainers committed to learning, leadership, and community impact.

Organized by the 𝘼𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙤 𝙇𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙏𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙀𝙭𝙘𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝘾𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧, 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙎𝙖𝙠𝙩𝙤 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙇𝙖𝙗 is a transformative program that equips trainers, facilitators, youth advocates, educators, volunteers, and aspiring trainers with the knowledge and skills to create meaningful change in their communities.

Team building is more than just participating in activities, it is an opportunity to strengthen connections, build trust, develop communication, and create meaningful experiences together.

Throughout the day, different team-building activities were conducted, allowing each member to reflect on the value and impact of every task and experience.

On the first day, the opening activity was “Build Me Up!”, where teams worked together to build a bridge. Through this challenge, members learned the importance of trust, avoiding quick judgments, staying focused, and working as one to achieve a common goal. Another activity was “Titanic,” where members took on chosen roles and defended their decisions to survive. This activity highlighted the importance of making thoughtful choices, understanding different perspectives, and confidently standing by one’s values despite differences.

During the evening, a campfire gathering was held. Each group offered a single stick to the fire as a symbol of letting go of thoughts and reflecting on the lessons learned throughout the day. It became a meaningful moment of realization, connection, and appreciation. The night continued with a trivia game where members were mixed into new groups and answered questions from different categories. It brought laughter, excitement, teamwork, and created new friendships and memories.

To start the next day with energy and creativity, a storytelling activity was conducted. One person began a story while others continued adding scenarios. This activity reminded everyone of the importance of listening, understanding context, and building ideas together.

Through every activity, challenge, and shared moment, the team-building experience became more than just an event—it became a journey of growth, connection, and learning that will remain with us long after it ended.

𝙑𝙀𝙍𝘿𝘼𝘿 𝙟𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙎𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙎𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙛 𝙃𝙊𝙉𝙊𝙍𝘼𝘽𝙇𝙀

Last July 8, 2026 VERDAD have participated in the special screening of 𝘏𝘖𝘕𝘖𝘙𝘈𝘉𝘓𝘌, a compelling documentary directed by Rhadem Musawah and Francis Tanglao Aguas that amplifies the stories of transwomen who courageously pursued public office despite the challenges of discrimination and deeply rooted gender biases in the society. Which San Roque Kagawad Hon. Benjie O. Diones in Zamboanga city was among the featured personalities.

The film becomes a reminder that the qualities of a good leader lie in honesty, ability, and a genuine desire to serve others, regardless of gender identity. It encourages a society that values inclusion and ensures that every individual has the opportunity to lead and be heard in their own ways.

We commend the Seven Ivy Films and Aguas Films for creating a platform that ignites a meaningful conversations on equality and inclusion of LGBTQIA+ in the status quo. VERDAD is proud to stand alongside advocates and partners who continue to advocate human rights, diversity, and inclusive governance.

As Pride Month comes to a close, VERDAD stands with the LGBTQIA+ community in remembering that Pride was never merely about rainbows, parades, or a month on the calendar. It was, and remains, the courage to occupy one’s full humanity in a world that has too often demanded only fractions of it.

Pride exists because, for far too long, countless individuals have had to negotiate for the simple right to exist openly and without fear. It exists because there are still those who are denied dignity, questioned for who they are, or compelled to hide parts of themselves in spaces that should have embraced them.

As an organization that champions youth empowerment and good governance, VERDAD believes that no society can truly call itself just when people must choose between authenticity and acceptance, between safety and selfhood. A community cannot claim to empower its youth by asking them to fit in. It does so by making room for them to live fully and openly.

The pursuit of equality has never been solely the burden of the LGBTQIA+ community. It is a collective responsibility, a continuing call to build institutions, communities, and spaces where every person is afforded not only rights, but dignity; not only tolerance, but belonging.

And while June may be ending, the work remains.

Last June 29, the VERDAD Organization participated in the 5th Layag sa Tulunghaan: Voter’s Education for College Youths: Sailing Towards Informed and Responsible Youth Vote, held at Universidad de Zamboanga, Zamboanga City. The activity gathered college students, first-time voters, student leaders, and SK-eligible youth to promote informed and responsible participation in the upcoming 2026 BSKE.

Representing VERDAD during the event was Carl John Manalo, the Deputy Executive Director, who served as one of the distinguished reactors in the multi-stakeholder panel. He shared insights on the importance of youth participation, civic responsibility, and the role of civil society in promoting clean, honest, and peaceful elections.
‎
This participation reflects VERDAD’s continued commitment to empowering the youth through education, leadership, and meaningful community engagement. We extend our gratitude to the organizers and stakeholders for creating this valuable platform for dialogue and learning.
