Empowering Inclusive Governance: MYMPD Participates in BARMM Inclusive Policymaking Training
DAVAO CITY — Advancing its steadfast commitment to sustainable peace, inclusive governance, and community-driven development, the Muslim Youth Movement for Peace and Development (MYMPD) actively participated in the Inclusive Policymaking Training for Civil Society Organization (CSO) Partners, held in Davao City from September 16 to 17, 2026.
The two-day intensive training was organized by the Bangsamoro Transition Authority Gender and Development Focal Point System (BTA-GFPS). It sought to strengthen the legislative knowledge, policy engagement, and advocacy capacities of civil society organizations working across the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
Representing MYMPD was Program Representative Ahmad Zakry T. Kahil, who joined grassroots leaders, sectoral advocates, and community representatives in meaningful discussions and collaborative learning activities. The training provided participants with valuable tools and strategies for effectively engaging in policymaking processes and ensuring that proposed measures genuinely reflect the needs and aspirations of Bangsamoro communities.
A central focus of the program was the meaningful inclusion of sectors whose voices have often been unheard or underrepresented—particularly the youth, women, persons with disabilities, Indigenous Peoples, and other vulnerable communities. Participants were encouraged to help create public policies that are not only responsive and equitable but also rooted in the lived experiences of the people they are intended to serve.
MYMPD’s participation affirms its belief that lasting peace and genuine development can only be achieved when every sector is given a seat at the table. Inclusive policymaking transforms ordinary citizens from passive recipients of government programs into active partners in shaping the future of their communities.
For MYMPD, empowering young people and marginalized groups is more than an advocacy—it is an essential foundation for building a peaceful, just, and progressive Bangsamoro. When communities are heard, policies become more compassionate; when diverse voices are respected, governance becomes more responsive; and when people are meaningfully involved, peace becomes stronger and more sustainable.
Through initiatives such as this training, MYMPD continues to strengthen its role as a partner for peace and inclusive development. The organization remains committed to bringing the aspirations of grassroots communities into policymaking spaces and helping build a BARMM where no voice is ignored, no sector is left behind, and every Bangsamoro has the opportunity to contribute to a shared and hopeful future.
Together, through inclusive governance and meaningful participation, we can transform our collective aspirations into policies that uplift lives, strengthen communities, and build a peaceful and empowered Bangsamoro for generations to come.
