The trip was far from easy. To reach the community, the team endured a 45-minute to one-hour trek, crossing 18 rivers along the way. Yet every step, every river crossed, and every challenge encountered became worthwhile because of the opportunity to serve the children and families of Sitio Migasa once again.
This year, the scholars not only participated in Brigada Eskwela but also prepared a meaningful outreach program for the community. School supplies were distributed to the students to help them prepare for the new school year. Wanting to make the day even more special, the scholars personally baked cookies and prepared meals for the children, parents, teachers, and community members. What was served was more than food, it was a heartfelt offering of love, care, and gratitude.
The spirit of service continued beyond the outreach activities as the scholars spent meaningful time with the students through reading sessions and learning activities. They shared not only knowledge but also encouragement, patience, and confidence with every child they met. Through these simple interactions, bonds were formed, and the joy of learning was nurtured in the hearts of the students.
Throughout the day, countless smiles, laughter, and moments of connection filled the school. The simple joy on the children's faces, the gratitude of the parents, and the warm welcome from the community reminded everyone why service matters. What began as a challenging journey across rivers became a journey of compassion, friendship, and shared humanity.
The success of the activity was measured not only by the school supplies distributed, the meals shared, or the lessons taught, but by the memories created and the hearts touched along the way. As the scholars and volunteers made their journey home, they carried with them something even more valuable a renewed appreciation for service, gratitude, and the power of collective kindness.
For the Tzu Chi Foundation, Itโs Scholars and dedicated volunteers, Sitio Migasa is more than just a destination. It is a reminder that when people come together with sincere hearts, no distance is too far, no river is too difficult to cross, and no act of kindness is ever too small to make a difference.
