Exciting news for our Civil Engineers in Zamboanga Peninsula!

Following the national announcement, PICE Region IX is gearing up for the Engineering Forum 2026 Mid-Year National Convention and Technical Conference.

In line with this, PICE is officially transitioning to a new and improved membership portal. To ensure you are ready for pre-registration which opens today, April 6, 2026, 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝.

ZPPSU Student Tops PICE NCES Quiz - Region IX Elimination

To inspire future civil engineers to actively engage in professional organizations and academic activities, the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) Zamboanga City Chapter successfully hosted the National Civil Engineering Students (NCES) Quiz – Regional Elimination on August 23, 2025, at the Covered Court of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Zamboanga City 2nd District Engineering Office in Divisoria, Zamboanga City.

A total of 18 students from six higher education institutions in Zamboanga Peninsula participated in the event. Competing schools included Western Mindanao State University (WMSU), Universidad de Zamboanga (UZ), Ateneo de Zamboanga University (AdZU), Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University (ZPPSU), Josefina H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC), and Mindanao State University (MSU) – Sindangan.

After a rigorous contest, Crisanto A. Perez of ZPPSU emerged as the 1st placer, securing the top spot in the regional competition. Earl Justin T. Vengado of AdZU placed 2nd, while Harl Andrew Bernardo of WMSU took 3rd place.

Perez will represent Region IX in the upcoming PICE National NCES Quiz, with Vengado serving as the alternate. The national competition is scheduled later this year, with the official date yet to be announced.

The annual NCES Quiz serves as a platform for civil engineering students across the country to showcase their knowledge, skills, and competitiveness, while fostering camaraderie among future engineers.
