Arts Initiative Zamboanga

Arts Initiative Zamboanga Arts Initiative Zamboanga is a youth-serving community theater for development organization in ZC.

Arts Initiative Zamboanga, formerly Dulaang Crimson, is a youth-serving community theater for development organization in Zamboanga City. It aims to empower the youth in creative growth through arts for development and allow them to be champions in facing the social challenges of their own communities. Our organization envisions harnessing artistic creativity among young leaders and learners with

an inclusive and equitable safe space as they serve as catalyst for sustainable development and social transformation. Formerly, it is known as Dulaang Crimson which is a community theater for development organization that advocates for inclusive youth participation and was established back on 2015 by Vernon Kenny Jimera together with colleagues Renzo Delos Santos, Daniel Barrios, Danica Rusiana, Ivan Xerxes Tangon, Ai-ai Anudin, Roxan Carasca, Chooky Dompol, April Jane Molina, Raven Kathleen Alpez, Shanley Combista and Jorizza Cabahug and Florie Mar Abunin. The organization created an avenue for theater enthusiasts among youth and young professionals of Zamboanga City and incorporated the art form in producing creative advocacies that deals with the social development and transformation. Since the group started, it has produced their own fringe and musical theater plays, such as "Pamilyang X," "Si Binibining Monopoly at Ang Bahay Ampunan," "Sitio Kadapwan" and "Hapagkainan," tackling different societal issues. The organization continues to provide workshops and training among the youth to further encourage them to fall for the arts.

‎As June comes near, Arts Initiative Zamboanga is excited to be part of the 2026 AYTF Uniting Asia Residency Programme through our Executive Director, Vernon "V" Kenny Jimera.

‎This marks our first participation in an Asian Youth Theatre Festival (AYTF) Residency Programme - an important milestone for our growing community of artists, educators, and cultural workers in Zamboanga.

‎As part of the residency, we look forward to learning from fellow theatre practitioners and youth leaders across Asia, building meaningful connections, and bringing home new ideas that can be translated into future workshops, performances, and community-based arts initiatives.

‎We are grateful for this opportunity to represent Zamboanga and contribute to conversations on theatre, youth leadership, and social change on a regional platform.

‎Here's to new collaborations, new learning, and making theatre happen beyond borders. 🎭✨

‎Two characters. One scene. Mixed emotions. 🎭

‎This is what happens when actors fully commit to the truth of a scene.
